Wonder where my enigne is

Interesing thing ( well atleast it is for me )

With all 6 Cylinder petrol E90 engines being made in Austria and the Factory here in South Africa being half a world away, the engines for our cars are made quite a while before the car, since they need to be shipped here before production

Well, I have 2,5 weeks left before my car is being assembled, so I wonder if my engine is already finished and getting ready to be shipped or just about to be assembled or even on a boat on its way here

Atleast here we get the car within a few days of assembly, but its still going to be a long 2,5 weeks

Well, they don't let you track the engine - before your car has gone into production!!

It is interesting...

I think the guy said the engines arive a week in advance? I donno...

It's quite exciting...just weeks away from that call - the dealer telling you your car has arrived!!!

That's the same thing with X5 diesels. BMW ships the motors to the US for assembly, only to turn them around and ship the entire vehicle back to Europe.

Your right... I guess I was thinking of diesel because I wish they'd offer that wonderful 3.0d to the US.

Do very many europeans purchase X5's or Z4's? Or are they seen as "american built"?

Hi

Dont know if anyone ever bought that system, maybe someone that was supposed to be in hospital for mental illness.

You can read about our meet at the factory for a tour here : http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...t=factory+tour

They currently make around 250 to 300 E90 a day

Can you request that your engine be built after the factory retools their equipment?
