Hi Newbie need some advice
Hi All,
Newbie here well I have lurking for a while and finally decided to come out of hiding This will be my first time with a BMW and I would like some advice. I am looking at the 320i and 330i for budget reasons which car is recommended on here? how is the reliability like on the 330i seen as the 328i was not very good on this front. Another dilemma I have is with the colour scheme, previously I quite liked the mineral grey and coral red combination but I have really started to like the estoril blue would this work with the coral red or should I go with another interior colour ? which of these combinations do you guys think are better? If I can get it in the budget I would like the Tanzanite Blue colour. Other than this the spec I am going with is Media pro plus, M Sport Plus and heated seats, where could I get the best deal from and how much discount should I expect? Thanks for the help |

On the colors - I would suggest going with the estoril blue since it really makes the BMW stand out and looks great. I've got the Estoril blue with coral red interior and I absolutely love the combination. Be aware that Estoril blue is only available with the MSport trim.
Regarding your other queries others on the forum will be better placed to chip in . |

Get on to coast2coastcars.co.uk for an idea of the discounts that are available at the moment.
The 330i engine is very new still so it's difficult to know how reliable it is. Haven't heard of any issues at this stage, but it's what, 12 months in? Go down to a dealer and check out some colour combos. A few people on here have estoril blue with coral red, it's quite a loud combo though so worth seeing in the flesh before committing. Tanzanite blue is lovely (saw a 330e yesterday and it looked great with the MSport plus wheels). But, it is one of the most high maintainence colours when it comes to showing small scratches etc. so depends how fussy you are about that kind of thing. i.e. you either need to take a great deal of care over it to keep it looking spot on, or not care that it doesn't, because without great care, marks are going to show up. EB and mineral grey don't have that issue in the same way. Last edited by Canary_Yellow; 09-08-2016 at 10:15 AM.. |

Welcome newbie
As 225 says - a 340i is always in reach Bin any ideas of Tanzenite and the cost difference now becomes negligible Best thing to do is give us your required spec, amount of deposit you are willing to put in, yearly mileage and credit card number The forum will then do the rest - just sit back and wait for delivery - you know it makes sense .

All the petrol engines are new engines. The 'B series' engines are a 500ml modular cylinder design.
The 20i and 30i are both 2L 4 cylinder engines and with some modifications offer differing outputs. Better discounts are available on higher output models and the price gap really does narrow down towards the glorious 3L 6 pot 40i... However, with power running cost goes up! Though my 340i displayed 37mpg for my commute this morning! Very steady run.

Colour is of course highly subjective. However, to me the BMW configurator is borderline deceitful in the way it shows Tanzanite Blue in a way that is nothing like the real world which is much darker and IMHO nowhere near as good. So my advice is make sure you see TB in the flesh before ordering.

Thanks for the response guys. I want to put in £2000 and would like to get a cost of £350 per month do you think this is possible. I have always thought Estoril Blue always went better with a dark coloured interior but I will definitely try to have a look at one at the dealers. Does anyone have TRL's latest email?

First of all welcome, secondly this is exactly where I was a couple of months ago.
I was all for the 330i until I realised with discounts the 340i worked out approx £20-30 a month more. From my rough calcs from c2c and pcpcal with the numbers you want to spend you would be looking at a base spec 340i or a 330i with about £4K of options on it. |

What I didn't mention was I am looking for a sports auto, I think with this the 330i is hopefully attainable otherwise it will have to be the 320i for cost reasons. What spec's do you guys think are essential to have bare in mind the budget Also any more advice on colours would be appreciated. Thanks

I've gone 2.5k in and 399 pm for mine, but have added about 5K of options. Tbh I'd rather have the toys over the extra performance in the 340 and I'm not a fan of auto, but that's just me.
