Coding changes disappeared after vist to BMW
I coded my 328i to change Stop/Start to be whatever it was set to before (rather than always starting active)
After a visit to BMW for some warranty work it seems to have now reverted to what is was before. Is this normal when the car goes in for service ? |

Interesting.
Is there a way of finding the version information somewhere ? All I could find is versions for map data and external device support. I have Pro Nav but probably an early version as the car is April 2012 |

Also now your cars i-step's been updated you might need a new version of psdzdata for your e-sys to work properly. |

Thanks
Will fire up esys at the weekend and take a look. As long as I can code the FEM_BODY mule I should be good for the stop/start mod I downloaded the psdzdata files using the links from the thread about the 2015 map updates, only did this a month ago so hopefully they will be up to date How will I know if they're out of date ? Will I just not be able to access the module ? |

I successfully recoded the 'remember last setting' parameter for the stop-start I wanted to see what version of software was loaded (and whether it had been updated) but when I clicked on VCM everything was blank. Looking at your screen shot, do I need to read something in first ? I was already connected to the car after doing the coding. I also restarted esys and reconnected but nothing was populated on the VCM page. Any ideas ? I'm sure it just needs an extra step to read something in first. |

OK, have reconnected and read my istep values, see below. It looks like it has had the software updated at least twice in the car's life.
Does anyone know whether this latest version recorded is the most current one for a 2012 328i ? |

Are there any release notes or similar that describe what has changed in each release ?
It would be interesting to know what's different between 59.3 and 59.4 I'm guessing that to upgrade is a big job compared with coding - and would this need the full version of the psdzdata files ? |

I am having some coding done tonight, lets hope when my car goes in for service in a few months time they dont update it.
Do you think its worth mentioning to them that you dont want them to update software? |

I wouldn't even mention it to them. You don't know what bees nest you may stir up.
My experience is dealers aren't that clued up about coding. When my car was in it was plugged into the internet and coded from BMW HQ in Germany. I think they just get a job sheet from the eagles nest on what to do (They called it a PUMA case when mine was in). You will only really have issues if you've changed the Vehicle Order (FA SALAPA) and written in back to the car. If that doesn't match what it left the factory with, you will be asked some questions. FDL coding will probably not be found and overwritten on updates to the software.
