RB turbo set screws for head?
I was tapping the head to close off oil passages to the intake.
used a Tap 10 32 then when i was trying to put the set screw in the hole i tapped i dropped the set screw in the head. soo pissed. I wanted to know if there are oil passages to the pan or should it still be in the top of the head. |

I have used a magnet no luck.
Today i am going to rig up a shopvac to see if i can find it. if i can't My next actions will be brake clean everything and try to blow everything out, hopping it will may be if there are any holes to oil pan. Then i am going to drop oil to check it with magnet. after then turn motor slow to see if it binds up. I will do two cycles. then look again if nothing i am going to take the cams off with bmw tools. fml .30cents is going to cost me $800 approx with buying the tools and new cam bolt and tensioner seal |

Have you removed the intake manifold to try to get to it that way? Have to scoped the combustion chamber through the spark plug hole? That's where I would start.

you think it would of went in the combustion chamber. i don't think there is an entry point from the head only if spark plugs/ intake mainifold was on.
So i have bought the tool i am just waiting for the bmw tool it will allow me to take off the intake cam and look. I think i will have to but a new washer for tensioner and new cam bolts and cam cap bolts? can any one confirm that? also am i missing anything? |

I would just start it if you cannot find the set screw... If it is still up in the head I highly doubt that it will cause any issues.

i am not sure how much space in the valve springs maybe the set screw would get stick in valve spring and float the valve and the valve hit the cylinder. but i don't know i am just thinking the worst before the tool comes

ok almost complete I am safe to say that the set screw is not in the head. I pulled off the cams gears and cams to check also changed to the updated seals on the cams. so I hope to have it done soon. 1 month almost waiting for parts and tool to get this done.
