Any 228i's here went down the 1/4? (times attached)
So I took my 6 speed 228i to the 1/4 a few times this year and noticed that xdrive and auto cars are much quicker. I've only gone on really hot and humid 90+ days (heatsoak was really bad), but best i've managed even with JB4 map 2 and catless downpipe was 13.7 @104. I realized stock 228i's in auto and xdrive are capable of that stock. Is there anything wrong with my car or are auto's that much quicker? I am however pretty happy at my launch, managed a consistent 1.8-1.9 60ft on the terrible 17'' run flats.

Never brought the car to the 1/4 mile but I've owned both the auto and 6 speed. I have to say that the auto feels a bit quicker probably due to the 8 speed gearing. The gearing for the 6 speed feels way too tall for the power band of the engine.

Apparently it translates to a big difference on paper. The xdrive helps alot off the line as well. From a roll my car eats my friends stock 8 speed 228i but off the line is hard to launch hard on the rwd 6 speed due to wheelspin

The combination of turbo charging and an automatic transmission that keeps the revs up is a hard combination to beat. The sport automatic transmission is very fast and keeps the engine revs in an ideal spot. Speed shifting a manual transmission may make up for some of the difference but it is hard to beat the computer.

Thanks for posting these results - unlikely to get to a 1/4 mile track this year, and nice to have an idea of what my 228 is capable of. Did you use launch control, or the DIY method?
