Standard stuff. Walking in with a few quotes from coast2coast normally wipe the smile from their faces!

I received that email too. Normally ignore these events but I should try one day to walk in determined to do a deal.

Re TRL, I know people love the guy and I got nothing against him but they're hardly unique deals. Can get similar elsewhere if you try.

The point is that you have to work for it with most other dealers, with Tony no work involved

They normally panic when you walk in with the C2C quote and pull you into a dark segregated room where no other customers can see or hear you!

LOL, when Tony quoted me on my M140i and requested a finance settlement figure he said it would trigger the supplying dealer calling me and promising to beat his figure.

One of the sales guys phoned me back to go through the details and they couldn't get anywhere near and asked me if I'd held a shotgun to the other dealers head

Depends on the dealer for sure. For my F31 I gave Barons the DriveTheDeal and C2C price and they wouldn't match it. So I walked away and called all the other dealers in a 50 mile radius and got lucky with 1 with targets to meet!

Second that. This is the 2nd car I've ordered through TRL. It's hassle free. Pain free. On top you get good banter. No doubt people will have purchased more than two from him but for the ease and experience he has my repeat business and I've passed people his way too. ETTO for sure but the hassle going through my local stealer (I did try) is just not worth it.

Exactly this, anyone can mug a deal away on a new car. It's order taking. He just has a head start on things.

All true, you either need to hit target, hence fall over and order take or stand up and offer the full experience to the customer. TRL gets no more margin to 'play' with than any other UK dealer.

To prove this point, now that the M3/M4 deals have gone, they've gone for everyone inc TRL. If he could still pull off the same deal as before, that would be impressive.

Agree re other comments on ease and good service, that is worth £££

Sadly for me no one seems to repeat good deals or maybe I just end up getting even better deals.

The thing that puts me off these events is that they are primarily focused on ex-demonstrators/AUC/stock cars. I prefer to spec my own car in peace and quiet and then see what kind of deal I can get, without all the marketing hoopla. ETTO.

Smacks of "desperation" to me. New Car sales are DOWN 4.5/5 % this year, pre-reg cars are selling (so i'm told) @ new prices!!!, are people MAD?.

Yes with the end of the quarter the end of this month, dealers will be looking for cars to be delivered by then. Increasingly the spec I want is very specific and unlikely to be met by an existing car or order that is too late to be changed. Next time I wish to replace, I will approach about 6 to 7 weeks before quarter end hoping for build slots not taken up.

Chandlers are also currently holding one of these events
