B58 BMS Intake Owners Thread

I made it 6 months keeping my 340i stock, but now it's time to give in. I just ordered the JB4 and Connect Kit. Now I am trying to decide if I should go for the BMS intake as well. The hardware looks beautiful, but I'm reading mixed messages about sound and performance.

Both dynos from burgertuning.com are confusing. The first shows little gain and some loss through the power band, and the other compares Map1 to Map2+Downpipe+Intake. Reference:
http://www.burgertuning.com/B58_340i...ce_intake.html

So if anyone wants to answer any of the following questions, it would be greatly appreciated.

1. Is there any performance gains when used only with JB4?
2. Is throttle response affected?
3. Is the sound a big improvement?
4. Is the sound ever annoying (drone)?
5. Have you ever had issues?
6. Are you concerned that the intake may be more susceptible to heat issues (not sealed off from engine bay heat)?
7. Are you concerned with the filter material's filtering performance?
8. Are you concerned with the filter material's oil affecting the MAF sensor?

2. Is throttle response affected?
No

3. Is the sound a big improvement?
Yes

4. Is the sound ever annoying (drone)?
No, intakes dont cause drones

6. Are you concerned that the intake may be more susceptible to heat issues (not sealed off from engine bay heat)?
Its a turbo car, whether intake is sealed or not will not make any difference in terms of performance

Note: You are definitely overthinking this

I would say there is minimal performance gains and a nice sound improvement.

I was worried about getting the intake also (mainly because of what people were saying about it), but I'm glad I did it. I've had it for a few months now and I love it! Sounds awesome, and definitely gives a nice spool sound!

I did that first, then recently just got the JB4. Haven't had the JB4 long enough to really enjoy it but there was a noticeable increase in power. Been working on an issue with Terry with the fuel/boost gauge hijack. Mine still doesn't work even with the latest firmware. Terry has been great though in troubleshooting it with me.
