First Hand Wash

Didn't exactly do a pick up thread for this (25th July I collected it) so this can partially class as one.

So after deliberating whether or not I would allow the local hand wash around the corner to touch my new car again, I decided it would be better to do it myself from now on.

So after almost £200 on equipment and 4 hours of work I think my first attempt at it has gone pretty well.

Snow foamed, hand wash, clay barred, polished and then sealed

The brake disc's are have some surface rust from the pressure washer, quick drive will sort it

Good work, and so much more satisfying than using the rag draggers

I've never tried claying any of my cars, but think I will give it a try at some point on my new one.

Looking good!

It's very satisfying doing a DIY job on your own car. You can take extra pride in your ride.

Definitely! Even though using a pressure washer where it was forced all the pedestrians to go around the car

I have never tried it before, wanted to make sure everything was gone before I took the polish to it. It picked up things as well!

Looking good! Is that an Oyster interior? If so, what do you think of it with the EB?

It is indeed! I really like it, it stands out and inside when mixed with a sunroof the interior is bright and a lovely place to be.

My only niggle is my jeans enjoy it more than I do, so much so they imprint themselves onto it.

That was my worry as well, though I've seen threads elsewhere that suggest it's reasonably easy to clean. Sorry for more questions but do you have the oyster lower dash as well? It was the one thing I wasn't sure about.

Looking good! I had an EBII loan car during the week and I definately warmed to it! Much easier to keep looking clean than MG!

I've tried to do all the washing myself since I've had it and I've still accumulated some swirls - but it's nowhere near as bad as it would be if the local rag draggers had got their hands on it!

Couple of leather wipes cleans it up nicely. Depending on how long I am in the car and the temperature (warm weather seems to make the colour transfer easier) I could clean it every 200 or so miles.

Yeah the lower dash comes in Oyster as well. I admit I would probably prefer it black in all honesty, but I still like it. It's a bit of a change from my previous car which was just black everywhere (57 Honda Civic).

Smart decision. I never allow anyone to wash my car. I've been hand washing my car since I first started driving. It's something I really enjoy.

Never really had the equipment to do it with my other car, so I let someone else do it. In all honesty the place I took it to did a really good job and used proper methods (snow foam, 2 bucket), albeit expensive.

I did enjoy doing it, I just have very little space being on the pavement pretty much. Getting in everyone's way!
