Changing pads, sensor?

So the warning came up on my screen. Checked and it's the rear pads.

Getting them from euro car parts, they sell Pagid, Textar or Brembo.

Anyone know which of these would be the best?

Also do I need to replace the sensor, and which one do I need to get?

Sorry for all the questions, haven't done the pads before on my f30

None of those, so far the only tried and tested pads are OEM or EBC yellowstuff and redstuff.

Sensors depends if they've triggered yet, pull it off and see if the tip has been worn by the disc.

There's a bargain oem rear sensor here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282121061159 they're about £30 from BMW!

Mate, I have a 318d 143bhp F30, big difference to your 335d.. I don't need super performance pads to stop the car.

Any of the ones I have mentioned will do the job nicely

I'll take a look at that sensor thanks bud.

It's not just about stopping power, there's so many factors to pad quality, noise, disc wear, longevity, dust etc.

The redstuff are only £10 more than those ones, they're a great very low dust pad:

I guess you don't have the M Sport blue brakes?

Doesn't matter what engine you've got when you need to slam the brakes on in an emergency at 50mph!

From what I've read, Textar are cheap and cheerful. Pagid make a lot of stuff for OEM's including VW/AUDI and Mercedes.

That's not saying they are the same quality......

I've used Pagid on a few BMWs and a family members Merc with no issues.

Re brake sensor - chances are it will fall apart when you try and remove it so just get another. You can get them off eBay for as little as £3 and they do the job fine - and take 5 mins to fit.

As teaston says - it just clips into the brake pad. The other end is in a plastic box under the wheel arch (normally passenger side) and Thai just plugs in too.

Looked into these EBC pads and they seem good.

their red pads are for performance track cars, so the green ones have been recommended for my car.

I do only need rear pads at the moment but would like to get a set of greenstuff front ones too. Cannot find a set of greenstuff front pads for my car anywhere in the uk, they all out of stock.

You don't want greenstuff, they're for low powered 'warm' hatches. And Bluestuff are the track pads.

You want either Redstuff or Yellowstuff, the yellowstuff have more stopping power but Redstuff produce far less dust. Go for the redstuff imo.

My F30 is a 4cyl diesel. It isn't anywhere near the term hot, or warm. So I think the greenstuff would do.

Plus, the red stuff ones are for cars over 200bhp, mine is a good bit under that.

It's not just about power, also the weight of the car affects the stress on the brakes, your car is a lot heavier than a Golf GTI. Also the 200bhp is referring to petrol engines, your car would have more torque than a 200bhp petrol car, so it is comparable performance.
