After MHD burble mod, strong fuel smell, anyone else?

Well I haven't seen many threads created about N54's smelling of fuel after flashing this mod, but I've noticed since now that I've done the burble mod, when I'm just idling and even after turning my car off I can smell a bit of fuel that wasn't present before flashing the mod.. I can't pinpoint it's location, but I know it's not coming from the engine bay because I don't smell it in there at all, so if I had to guess I would say it's being pushed out of the exhaust which makes sense since that's most likely how the effect is created, but should it be that excessive to where I still smell fuel about an hour later after my cars been turned off..??

My air/fuel ratios and fuel trims all appear fine so I don't think it's my HPFP or Injectors.. I can try to turn off that mod and see if it still does it but just figured I'd ask and see if those who've also done that burble mod notice a stronger smell of fuel now..

Thanks!

Makes sense as it's intentionally adding fuel through to the exhaust. I haven't noticed any more fuel smell than after installing catless DPs though. If I park after some loud afterfires, I do get the burnt hair, sulfuric cat smell

So the burble mod is potentially killing peoples turbos/motors... I didn't hear about that, thanks for the link.. I wonder if Marshall responded to these claims yet..

I was not even aware of this mod until I read that thread so haven;t followed development at all. But frankly it sounds retarded to dump a bunch of extra fuel through a turbocharged engine's exhaust just to make cool noises. NA or supercharged is one thing, but these turbos are quirky enough without intentionally creating little explosions in/near them.

Why didn't you post this in the MHD thread?

Because he is probably also tired of going into that thread only to see yet another "hey switching from cobb/procede/jb4 what tablet do you use blah blah is MHD faster can I run the Stage 2+FMIC without downpipes or an intercooler why am I getting misfires now" post. Sorry I love MHD and that thread is full of great info but there's also a lot of noise

Couldn't agree more. Searching through that thread for info nuggets is a pain. I don't mind at all threads like this. You want burble info? Better to discover this thread than have to search "burble" in the main MHD thread. The vast majority of people here are using MHD, so I don't see why discussion of it should be contained to one humongous and unwieldy thread.

Dumping fuel for cool sound is never a good idea. I installed a pair of Hexon turbos that appeared to be flawless and now the car is burning oil and smoking under 1,000 miles. I have not did any diagnostic yet. However when the seals usually fail on turbos theres usually oil all on the rear bumper and that has not occurred here. It just doesn't make any sense.

Actually, for the official thread you would have to search for "burrble"

I ran the burrble for about 20min. Car did not feel right with that option on. Jerky low throttle. Very bad with highway cruise control. I really believe this is a poor, dangerous, not thouht out gimmik from mhd.

I, respectfully, could not disagree more.

I'm on v7 beta map with burble in agressive. Car feels smooth and I have no problems at all

And it's fun when you want it to be especially in manual or sport mode.

I have it set to aggressive as well and around 2.5s. I'm not noticing any fuel smell, smoke or abnormal oil loss...

Thanks for the reply gents..

Yes that is exactly why I made this thread, because the main thread is a huge clusterfck of other nonsense..

And I just got back from vacation but I'm going to try and turn off the burble and see if I notice a difference on the fuel smell.. I have to read up on the HPFP a bit more and see what could be causing this.. But thanks again for ur reply's..!

Are you running the latest MHD version? The initial version of burble had this problem, which I experienced. However it's much improved in the latest version.

Yes. Original version. But it ran soo poorly i don't want to try again. I wasn't very interested in running the option to begin with. Just gave it a whirl for shits and giggles.

I'll have to check my version, it's been about two months since I flashed it.. When you got rid of the burble mod, did the fuel smell go away???

Well I updated my tune about 2-3 months ago, and at that time the burble mod settings were a bit more involved so I think I did get the update.. How new are you guys talking about..?
