Who only touches bottom of buttons?
Maybe just me and I may well be a freak, however just wondered when touching radio buttons do you give it a full on press?
The reason I ask is that I only ever touch the protruded ridge at the bottom of the radio buttons for the fear of getting contaminants from fingers on the buttons. In my previous 2 BMW's the radio numbers have split (especially seen at night when lights are on) and I always thought that constant touching of buttons with greasy hands may cause this? Therefore, I now avoid touching (unless programming one of the buttons). So what do you reckon...am I off my head? Or are there others like me? |

I'm the same with the steering wheel. The idea of contamination fills me with dread so I now use chopsticks.

You must use gloves but only once. You must put them on immediately before touching them and remove them as soon as it is completed and dispose of them. Then for the steering wheel you must change gloves. Following the same rules. Dispose of them. :
On a serious note I remember reading posts a while back about the buttons cracking. This was a long time back.

Yes, read it here before...and I think in order for me to get over my affliction (in a sort of "feel the fear and do it anyway" I should drive to Mcdonalds get myself a Big Mac, eat it in the car and then smear the remainder of the burger juice etc onto my dash. Surely that will cure me of my OCDness!

Might be better to start off small though perhaps with a mcChicken Sandwich and build up to the Big Mac. |

Far better to convert the inside of your car to isolation chamber standards.
Install a plastic liner to the interior of the car, cut two holes approximately 300mm diameter in the roof, install two airtight arm-length gloves and operate the cars controls while lying on the roof. That way you won't be exposed to any contaminants because you'll be outside the car. Oh, wait a minute...
