Thumbs up

Probably the Audi. It will have sounded way better too with that V10!

yeah I'll go with Audi as well. BMW 3 (now 4) series 'vert is a lot heavier than the coupe since they made it a retractable hardtop not a ragtop.

the Audi was way faster than the M4. The sound of that car was brutal when floored.
But its no suprise. The audi has V10 and 4x4, plus is probably lighter than the M4.
Shame there wasnt a Nissan GTR to show the audi its 0-60
PS: I dont like the colour of that M4 :

I know which one I'd rather have though.

The interior of the R8 is one of the biggest let downs I've ever seen, doesn't even feel like a £30k car interior let alone a 100k+ one

Recent reviews suggest the M4 is quite a big let down in driving terms.

Defiantly not in that colour and in general. Clarkson summed it up well. It’s like "oh Angelina Jolie has a beautiful face, so let’s add another cheekbone and nose and it's bound to make it even more beautiful". Form and function messed up. Changed for the sake of change but made worse in the process. I’ve tried to like it, thought I would get used to, but every time I see one I’m glad I don’t own one. This is one generation of M cars I will give a miss. It was an attempt to make M cars profitable rather than maintain an evolution of flagship engineering and it’s fatally compromised as a consequence.

I noticed after the post that you have an M4. Sorry I did not mean to be disrespectable, but it’s my honest opinion. If someone offered to swap their M4 for my M3 I would not take them up. I will be keeping my M3 for a long time. I don’t care that it is an old model. I care that it is the current pinnacle of M3 cars.

I guess everyone has their own opinion, that's the beauty of living in a free country.

I wonder how much time you have spent in an M4 (or have you simply read some reviews). I have had both an E92 M3 and an M4. there are good points and bad points for each car and I can see why someone might prefer the old M3. But the gap between the two which you are suggesting is just not the case.
Yes the M4 doesn't have that V8 noise but its a much quicker car, as for looks, this is purely a personal thing, but the M4 looks off the chart, like something out of Batman.

I’ve driven one for a test drive ~ 10 miles on mixed road types, so not exactly long enough to really get to know the car, but I did not leave the car with an appetite to want to get to know it more. I do agree however that there are pros and cons in each and personal preference is highly subjective. It’s strange how the perception of a cars shape and form change over time. I held judgement for a while before concluding I don’t like it in comparison to the E92. I have tried to like the M4. In pictures it looks better than in the flesh, but just my opinion. The E92 shape and form is more refined. The M4 has too many folds for my liking.

a friend had an M4 so i got to rip it here an there before he sold it. I think it looks great but the drive was always underwhelming. I dont think its a matter of sour grapes its just the way some people feel. Personally, unless its an M6 GC, I would also give this era a miss.

I'm with Ao1. I've never warmed to the M4. On paper I guess it's superior, better MPG e.t.c. There's just something about the E92 shape. It benefits from a more simple design I think.

To be fair MB is always going to be outnumbered here. The clue is in the name of the forum. I think they both look good and the M4 is more 'modern' looking. Not necessarily better. If you put the M4 and the e92M3 next to each other I bet most people would have no trouble guessing which was newer and more 'valuable'.
