Help with Exhaust Pics/Info??

What's up everyone...

I was hoping a few of you could assist me with some info that I've been searching pretty hard for, yet still can't find definitive answers. I'm looking to install a Dinan exhaust on my F25 X3 35i (I know, not an F30, just keep reading), yet Dinan doesn't make one, nor do they have plans to make one.

Well, the stock exhaust setup on the F25 X3 35i and the F30 328i look to be really similar in terms of piping location and layout. So, I was curious if I could retrofit the 328i Dinan setup onto my X3. However, I'm curious about piping size and how much custom work will be needed.

Soooo, can anyone provide any true measurements of the exhaust piping diameter (stock exhaust). Also, if anyone has any undercar pics of the 328i, I would really appreciate it. I've found the pic below of the underside of the X3, it looks pretty close to the 328i.

Thanks in advance!!

the O.D. of my 428i pipe is 74mm or 2-15/16".

if you use any 328i/428i aftermarket exhaust with twin single pipes on the left side, it appears you will have to cut your stock midpipe near the rear axle and have a curved or dog-legged section to meet up with the inlet pipe to the muffler. i doubt that the muffler hangars are the same place so it is likely you would have to remove and re-weld them accordingly on the aftermarket muffler so you can hang the muffler properly.

the dinan exhaust drones on the 4-cyl with auto-trans however i think it might sound good on your 6-cyl. please make a video clip after you've accomplished your project

Sweet, thank you! Yes, I am definitely planning on some sort of mod to the inlet pipe and the hangers, although, looking at the Dinan exhaust for the 328i/428i, it looks to be quite similar. Would be amazing if it was almost a drop in!

I had a Dinan on my E46 with the 3.0 liter, sounded great, so I'm hoping it sounds equally as nice. Of course, like you said, the automatic does tend to create some drone...

If I make this happen, full details, writeup, and videos will happen. Thanks for the input!

Go supersprint or remus. They make them for the X3.

Yeah, I could, but I really would like the Dinan exhaust, I want something OEM-ish and I've always found the Dinan to be the best sounding exhaust (for me) on my other vehicles that have it..

Thanks though...
