New Sat-Nav And Mounting Question
My old Tom Tom is due an upgrade, and after hunting about, I'm quite taken with the new Garmin Drivesmart 50LMT-D5.
Lifetime maps, digital traffic, etc. - it's quite an upgrade from my current one. Universal price is about £145 - various retailers offer differing discounts, but they all come down the same kind of price. Just wondering if anyone here has got any experience with this model? Opinions? Secondly, I need an alternative place to mount it! On the windscreen, it just gets in the way. I was thinking about something like this - http://www.halfords.com/technology/s...rtable-d-mount What I was really after was a way of mounting it to the front of the E90 dash. Is there such a way? What do you reckon?

I have an airvent phone holder and my phone falls out of it with spirited driving in the fast datsun.
Does it not come with a dedicated holder suction windscreen thingy? http://www.halfords.com/technology/sat-nav/car-sat-nav/garmin-drivesmart-50lmt-d-5-sat-nav-with-uk-ireland-maps?cm_mmc=Google+PLA-_-Sat+Nav-_-Car+Sat+Nav-_-215563&_$ja=tsid:60494%7Ccgn:GoogleShopping%7Ckw:2 15563&istCompanyId=b8708c57-7a02-4cf6-b2c0-dc36b54a327e&istItemId=appmwqttw&istBid=tzpt&_$ja= tsid:35522|cid:344534764|agid:24344973124|tidla-232061210644|crid:83795065684|nw:g|rnd:18186250257 448486005|dvc:c|adp:1o2&gclid=Cj0KEQjw_qW9BRCcv-Xc5Jn-26gBEiQAM-iJhaBCM-fNrMSs1NWaZxJk2mxd0YhIC6U4SQCL-TwckggaAk9N8P8HAQ £136 at halfords And a few % on TopCashback too. |

I use a genuine Garmin mount similar to this
Portable Friction Mount Part Number: 010-10908-00 £19.99 It may be dearer but the sat nav clips in securely - it doesn't depend on a sucker. on ebay for £14.99 |

A few years ago BMW released their own aftermarket Say Nav, it attached to a mount at the front of the dash and had integrated wiring. IIRC it was a rebranded Garmin with a silly price tag but there's a write up on here somewhere, probably going back to about 2012, I'll see if I can find it.

I went for the genuine Garmin dash mount in the end - really good bit of kit, highly recommended.
