Milltek Development - It begins

Hi All, I've just dropped my car off with the very nice chaps at Milltek this morning. Its going to be there for a couple of weeks whilst they develop a new system with hiflo sportscat downpipe.

Having been shown round their site and some of their recent projects I'm really very excited!!

As and when I receive updates (and pics) then I will post on here!
If you have any questions for me to ask their technicians then please shout and I will pass them on and reply accordingly.

Being an Audi man from the past and knowing how good their products are, then I was keen to speak to them and understand what they were doing for BMW cars. I've been shown a number of their systems today and was really impressed.
The main features we discussed were around the integration to the exisitng electronic valve, comfort mode being "non droney" whilst having the option to go for the full on crackle and pops in sport plus mode on demand. Oh and the sports cat downpipe which will be developed to avoid unnecessary cels whilst offering the additional volume and performance.
They also have a selection of nice tips to choose from too.

Hopefully they can deliver a non droning exhaust then... Not something they have in the past which is a shame as they sound great and are priced right.

Really happy they found a Bimmerpost member to do this! Pity for James since he was just too late with sending me a message to get it all sorted.

Enjoy and show us the full process.

Here is a pic of Milltek's finished cat back exhaust system complete with catted downpipe ! Sounds amazing
I've been running it for the past week now and I'm really happy with this. Milltek have also fitted in a system where I can override the exhaust flap settings in any mode or have in "auto" so they respond to the OEM comfort, sport and sport + etc.

I will sort out a video for the sound quality shortly.

As promised, here's a small clip until I get myself sorted with a proper video. Milltek will also be releasing details next week too.

Looking good and certainly looks the part.

Lots more to know.

1/ Sound inside cabin:How does it compare to factory and any drone ?

2/ Is there a high flow Cat involved with this set up ?

3/ Any claimed power increase ?

4/ cost ?

Just curious

I take it that you had preferential rates being the guinea pig

1. Well the requirement was that with the valves closed then the exhaust needed to sound the equivalent of the OEM system. This has been cleverly achieved and measured to the decibel.

2. Yes there is a 200 cel hi flow cat. This does not throw any errors and adds to the sound

3. Milltek use hjs tech in their sports cat systems and the estimated uplift is circa 20hp as per other similar systems. I can't confirm this as fact however I can vouch for it being much more responsive in the mid range and leaves my sons mk3 focus RS for dust(sorry Son)

4. Yes , there will be a cost. I have had preferential treatment here and that I must confess but uploading details etc is all off my own back. I hear that Milltek will supply info sometime next week.

In summary, I've heard some other systems both on video and in the flesh. This system knocks the pants off them!
I went as a visitor to a bmw meet at the national motor museum here in the UK and both driving in and out of the main car park I had people filming the car and requesting revs all the way.

I couldn't honestly tell you that they actually physically built it, but its based on their downpipe that they sell for the M235i.
