Urgent - Coils broke during spark plug change

The coil broke when I was doing the cylinder 4 spark plug.
Any proper way to pull the stuck part out from the hole so that I can unscrew the spark plug?

I am at my friend new house and have no long pliers available, is it ok for me to put the coil back in and deal with it later?

People talked about cutting the broken part in pieces so that I can still use the spark plug socket to unscrew the spark plug, but I think it is so risky to have the rubber going into the combustion chamber.

Help...

Try cutting or splitting the rubber? Would a cut throat razor fit? Then just use a vac cleaner to suck out any rubber pieces?

Ah that looks like a pain. Never happened to me but seems like one of the nightmares that can happen from very simple jobs.

You can attempt to put the coilpack back in, will probably misfire but you can at least get home on 5 cylinders.

Go to the shops and get the longest needlenose pliers you can get. These jobs can take 5 minutes or 5 hours.

Removing the valve cover would be sure fire way of accessing the spark plug but that's probably not a job i'd recommend to a beginner diyer.

Have put the broken coil back in and started the car.
Drove on the freeway at 110km/h for 30km, then another 20km city driving until home now.
On the freeway, whenever I had above 2.5k rpm acceleration, there is a big knock, stopping at traffic was fine and smooth.
However, situation became worse when I was in the city, car constantly shaking, put it in neutral gear and the shake disappeared.

I just got told that I shouldn't be driving the car with 5 cylinders, severe damage to the engine is very likely.
I wonder how much damage had I done to the engine for the last 50km driven??
Anyone can point me to the right direction to check if anything has been damaged? How to diagnose?
*when I drove the car! there wasn't any fault code! I only found misfire code when I parked on the side and scanned with Carly when the shaking became serious in the city. If misfire is a big damage to engine, why BMW won't alert the driver by going into limp mode???

I am getting 6 new coils now and will install them next week when I receive it.
If everything goes well after installing the new coils, I may get the MDH tune as well since all plugs and coils have been replaced.

you will be fine. when ur engine detects missfire it will shut off fuel to thay cylinder. hence preventing damage and it shakes the car at low speed/idle. we have all been through it.

take the valve cover off if u cant get it out with long nose pliers.

So, just out of interest, the shaking and knocking sound... is that just a manifestation of the engine firing 'out of balance' as 1 cylinder is not functioning??

Haha I remember my 1st limp mode after doing a log when installing a tune...

I was like wtf have I done is it a blown engine because I added a tune, or have I blown a diff!?!

Youll be fine mate, long nose pliers can be expensive but if you get em at bunnings you coukd use em once and take em back for a refund the next day

With only 5 cylinders where 1 cylinder isn't firing, I thought there will be extra stress on the other pistons or crankshaft?
I thought the pistons work in pair while one goes down is also pushing another one down.
I read online that inline 6 is very harmonic compared to V engine, but the more I read, the more I feel like the misfiring is really bad to the engine components.

Just an update, finally took the broken coil out.
Surely don't want to do it again.

The spark plug sleeve & spark plug well wall are scratched by the long nose pliers, but I was told that it is ok.

Read online that putting some dielectric grease around the boot of the coil may make the coil removal easier in the future.
