Yep, if you have iDrive I can point you in the right direction (info, car settings, then, um, have to wander outside and check).
If not I'm not sure how you would set that, but the option is definitely there in my car. |

...on the same topic...is there a car & key settings form I can take with me to the dealer/Performance Ctr. I just want to see what my options are and to make sure I don't miss out on any specific setting during delivery.

Actually, you can do it without the iDrive also. Just press the button on the turn signal stalk, go to settings, then door locking or auto locking option, and select the auto locking setting. Unfortunately, all of these menu items are weird symbols with little or no text so it's hard to tell which is which. Look in the owner's manual for the symbol, although it may not be there. From what others here have said, the auto lock seems like a post-Sept software update. But I definately can turn on/off the auto door locks myself. It locks the doors at 5 mph.

The OP has an Xi so definitely a post-Sept. 1 car.
BTW yes you can set the locks to lock automatically as Laplacian mentioned. Actually there is no icon for the selection to automatically lock the doors as you drive-off. It just says "On". There are 2 other choices that show a clock icon and those are for: 1.) the doors will lock if no door has been opened after a certain time and 2.) Option 1 and also drive-off locking.
