Service Dept Locked my CA Key Fob Inside Car???

I was getting my Summers and Blacklines installed today and the SA came out to ask me if by chance I had my other Fob. I said, No. He indicated while one of the SAs took the All Weather Mats out to wash, he heard a click after he closed the door and the Comfort Access key fob was in the Sun Visor. The SA looked, and sure enough the sound he heard was all the doors locking.

They were baffled and still can't explain "why or how" it happened. I suggested to the SA we call BMW Assist as opposed to me driving the X3 they pulled around for me to drive home (two Hours round trip) and get the other fob. So we did. BMW Assist to the rescue Their first attempt was unsuccesful, as the car was inside a wash bay. So I asked them to try again, and the second attempt she indicated she was getting a confirmation signal. and then she said, "Sir, your car is now unlocked".

Since the BMW SA could not tell me why or how this happened, I thought I'd go to the most informative place I know for BMW info --- All of you...

Any Ideas...

Thank You.

All I can say is that if you tried to duplicate this scenario, I would bet you couldn´t.

Somehow water seems to impact CA and I´ve heard people advise that you should keep the CA fob far away from the car when it´s being washed.

Good thing you thought of calling BMW Assist - and shame on the workshop people for not thinking of that.
