SNOW DAMAGED MY WHEEL!

Sup everyone, I drove my car in the snow and slid into a curb. The rear wheel is slightly bent inward and The 4 by 4 sign came on. Not to mention my alignment is off. I dont know the extent of damage to the car but I was wondering if I could get it repaired under warranty? Anyone know how I should go to the dealer with a proper story to get it under warranty? It would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry dude, I don't think lying is the way out of this, plus I don't think there's any lie about your situation that your dealership will actually be stupid enough to believe. Talk to your insurance, or your city government.

This is not a warranty issue by any means. It will be obvious upon inspection that impact caused the damage. You might however be able to get some relief from your insurance company.

ummmm... please change the title of your thread...

It should read: I damaged MY OWN wheel because I was stupid enough to go driving around in the snow.

Don't blame the snow... Its not the snow's fault. It is the driver's decisions and driver's lack of driving skills that caused your rim to become damaged. I was able to drive my RWD 325i home last night through the blizzard and through inches of snow on the road.

This reminds me... I am getting a little sick of people constantly trying to push the blame on other people instead of accepting the responsibility of their actions. Be a man and take it like a man...

What type of tires are on your car, summer tires, all seasons, or snow tires?

Your title reads that snow damaged your wheel when infact that was not the case. If your car was sitting in a parking lot, I can guarantee you would not have damaged your wheel.

Your attitude of, 'Let me come up with a lie to have this covered under warranty' is a cheap and immature way of dealing with this. I would have your car checked out at your dealership and be honest. All I am asking is for honesty...

I wouldnt be surprised if your alignment is off, and possibly if there was suspension damage. Your dealership should be able to help you with your repairs. Good day.

Amen. Ray Nagin and Kathleen Blanco come to mind. <g>

If the cost is over your deductible, you can file an insurance claim. Since the claim would ultimately be small, it shouldn´t impact your rates overall.

One thing to keep in mind, all season tires are really three season tires. They are not a substitute for snow tires.

Look, as much as I agree with not shifting blame, the OP was upset and distressed when he posted. He feels presumably miserable enough having occasioned damage to his new car so why pour salt on the wound. I think his post was far more innocent than you interpret (call me naive), but ultimately he was out on three season (aka all season) tires not snows and had an accident. He probably won´t make that mistake again and we should try to help him at least figure out a rational course of action (not a course of deception however).

I agree that he was upset and perhaps distressed. However, I don't think either condition is justification for trying to find a way to get someone else to pay for his mistake. We have entirely too much of that in this country. He said in part, "...I was wondering if I could get it repaired under warranty? Anyone know how I should go to the dealer with a proper story to get it under warranty?

I am attributing the OP´s loss of judgment to the stress of the moment.

Just giving the benefit of the doubt, that is all.

It might help if all posters had to display their age along with their posting. If the OP is 18 vs 48 years old that may help in the rest of us giving that person the benefit of experience / maturity or not.

In either case ... it's a fun thread to read through

Yes, the accident is unfortunate. I would never wish ill on somebody.

It is this same attitude as to why we as Americans (in general) are so litigation happy. Some people just look elsewhere to solve their problems.

Speaking of which... I just spilled some coffee on my lap

I used to drive an SUV prior to the E90. In snowy conditions, I would have to try hard to break traction... Or to be driving well outside the means of the vehicle (which wasnt the case)...

First, sorry to hear about your wheel. Second, please read the forum rules (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3735) and refrain from using the type of offending language you used.
