Trade-In

I called my dealer today to see if I could trade in my E90 from a 530Xi or a Volvo XC90. They offered me 32,000 if I trade at that dealer for the 530xi or 30,000 to buy from me. I paid 36,500 for my 330i.

What do you guys think???

Changing cars that quick is expensive. However, if you've made up your mind, then you should be patient and try to sell it yourself and reduce the blow you are about to take.

If convenience it your primary concern, then just check with another dealership of two and take your best deal.

My E90 has so far been the best car that I have had. I don't know if it's b/c it's my Bimmer but it's not all that I expected.

I still love it, I just feel that it isn't really what I was expecting.

If your pocketbook can handle losing the $4500, go ahead and trade it in.

I could never bring myself to throw money out the window like that, but to each his own.

On the other side of this transaction, you may still be not completely satisfied, and you'll be several grand lighter in the pocket. Just make sure you're sure....

I think 32k for your car is a pretty good trade in..530xi is a pretty nice car imo..

PS. You did get a good deal for your 330i...

how long have you had your e90? i've committed myself to owning this car for at least 6 years. besides, i love it. i'm guilty of trading in my cars every few years. i get bored of them. i told my wife that the next one i'll keep for a while. it's my first BMW so it feels special and i definitely want to hold on to it.

it comes down to a personal decision. ask yourself to questions. 1) is it worth/can i afford to take the hit selling early? 2) how much do i really love my car.

I'm in the same boat as you... I bought mine back in May and so far I don't have any regrets, and plan on owning it for a LONG time. I don't even regret not getting the 330 either (which I thought might happen). The only thing I wish I could change is a my option choices. Oh well...

BEFORE you buy the Urban Soccer mom station wagon that 's supposed to look like an SUV. Check out these pictures of an XC90 loaner that a "happy" customer has been using.

Feel free to send an email, this was seen on post, so it's a military family getting screwed again by greedy "townies"

Wow, trading in an E90 already. All the best for your 530 or whatever you choose.

Keep in mind $32,000 plus trading it in you save tax on $32,000.
If you sell outright need to make up tax difference which is a lot.
Here in NY if I did this I would really be getting $34.560.00.

Would this be how it works in Germany to?

yeah, you're gonna have to make up taxes paid, unless you purchased from BMW diplomat/mil sales? if this is the case, you could sell with out such a huge loss. i go back to my two questions you must ask yourself. like voltron, i'll own this one for a while. i used to buy cars without thinking long term. good luck and let us know what you decide. my opinion only...DO NOT GET THE VOLVO. you will miss the driving dynamics you had with your BMW. believe me, my wife drives a volvo station wagon. great car...she loves it...it does its job...no real maintenance problems. but i would not get a new one to REPLACE my e90. i understand that needs change (kids etc..). if you need an SUV, get an X5. the new one is coming out soon, or get a nice pre-owned. i've driven one...it's not the same as the e90, but pretty damn good handling for a car that heavy with a relatively high center of gravity. 5 series may be an option too. good luck.

I believe he should be tax free over in Germany so that doesnt matter. Have you tried selling it? I never had a problem selling a car there. I even sold a brand new volvo that I hated. You might be able to find someone who wants a 330 thats willing to save some cash..
