Wheel Spacers? ...help needed

Can a simple set of spacers solve rubbing problems? What is the downside to spacers? How do you know how what size spacers to buy?

Any advice is much appreciated.

I thought spacers push the wheels OUT so if you are rubbing they will rub even more with spacers. I would suggest rolling/shaving of fenders but M3 fenders are already like shaved.
what i would do is get thinner tires like Toyo's and give up grip/handling, or shave the offset a couple milimiters

Im actually asking for my dad. He has an '03 RS6, with aftermarket 19's. the new tires are rubbing on the inside. I believe on the upper control arm. They dont make the old tires anymore, and we have tried two new sets which both rub on the inside of the tire.

He wants to sell the car, but cant with tires that are rubbing. Are spacers the solution? Any other suggestions?

Thanks for your help

oh i see... u just gotta make sure if u put spacers you dont push them out too much so they rub on the outside. those are fronts we're talking right?

yeah, its the fronts. It is barely rubbing, so i think that i would be okay with a 5-8mm spacer.

Thanks for the tip.
