Haha, apparently so. There is a small Shell station at the top of the hill but it often runs out of fuel (it was out of Diesel on this visit), I don't think I would have had enough to get me to the Esso station the other end of town.

The Esso is actually just round the corner from where i started but they don't sell 98RON

I remember years ago in my M3CS, running the 3 lines for almost 7 miles on the M25/M40 before crawling into Beaconsfield services for a fill up. I'd done just under 400 miles on the tank though, having last filled up in Nurburg!

Last time I was at Santa pod I arrived there with a indicated range of 57 miles, thought I'd do a few runs with as little fuel in the car as poss to see if it'd improve my times. I did 5 runs, after the 5th I had an indicated range of 2 miles which turned to 0 half way along airfield road, but I got to the BP service station 9 miles away

Jesus, I've been trying to see how much I can get out of a tank on my m57 e90, I got to 527 miles with 81 miles on the range & the light came on so I bottled it and filled up on the way home lol

I bottled it at a quarter tank remaining after going up and over Jaufenpass. At the summit and a quarter tank and it showed 63 miles left to empty. Put a splash of fuel in to get up and over Passo Rombo.

Hahah. Love it. Why do we do it? I can't count the amount of times I've passed a perfectly good petrol station with the fuel light on, and then shat myself as the needle dips below the low mark and there's no other petrol station in site.

On my own cars I don't like to run too low just in case any dirty fuel goes into the engine. On work cars I have done 100 miles after the light came on.

With the filters I think this is actually very very unlikely. May dirty the filter though.

The main concern for me would be running the lines dry. Overheating the pump that has no fuel in it to cool it.
