M track-day invite

Did anyone get an email from BMW for track day event, the one near me was for Lime Rock, CT . Apparently you get to test drive all the M's, including the new M2.. I signed up, it's only a half day but it should be fun

If you didn't sign up within the first couple hours things were gone fast... I am really hoping to see the M2.

So i just read my emails...

This is going to be kinda wack.

1- hot laps as a passenger with a experienced driver showing you how to lap the car. ( you wont be driving on track)
2- Drag racing the new cars ( ok cool, but we already probably do that)
3- Autox - LRP's track is tiny in the paddack if this is the course they use.
4- classroom - if your a novice im sure this will be good, but for ppl who been on track before, this is going to be review.

I have driven all the new m cars already. Friends have a m3 another m4, another i8, and m5, m6.

The only one I haven't is an m2, which is why i signed up. I really thought we'd be able to do more than parade laps behind a pace car.

Should be a fun time, but this is not a track day. Its parade laps, sitting shotgun with a driver who gets to run laps, an autox, and dragging m cars.

Free lunch, a day not at work, and a free t shirt is cool.
Hope they let me drag my own car vs the m cars

Drive the m3/m4 and you will be happier in the 235.

The m cars a great don't get me wrong, but they remind me too much of a AMG, heavy and stiff. The ass slides out way too easy, spins with gear changes, grip is no where to be found, and they are just too big. They are more luxury than sport these days. If i wanted to go that route, id get an m5.

I come from a e36 m3... so the 235 puts me back into that feeling with double whp. 235 is an awd go kart with 400whp.

The 235 is my money saver tbh. Ive only dumped 12k into it over msrp so far lol.

I'm curious what your experience was after you actually went?

I think it's pretty damn awesome that you got to drive every M car, at speeds that really made an amateur sweat (no, they were not just parade laps), around a completely rented out Lime Rock Park, for what ended up costing you $0.

Some BMW owners are just never satisfied.

It's not a track day by any definition.

Do you drive cars on a track, yes. Are you following a lead car doing parade laps, a little faster, but yes.

it is however a great experience, where you can drive every M car.

I wouldn't go again, but if you haven't gone its worth checking out.

Follow the 8 videos we took during the day to check it out:
