dealer quotes

Hello, I am new to the forum and am currently trying to purchase an e92 335i coupe.

I have been e-mailing dealers for quotes and I have gotten many phone calls but only one has been willing to give me an actual quote.

Am I doing something wrong? Or is there something I need to say in the e-mail for them to actually give me a quote. I don't want to have to show up at every dealership just to get a quote. Thanks in advance.

I just recently did the same thing as you are attempting.

I stated in my e-mail is that I may be interesting in purchasing if the terms are attractive. I listed out each option I wanted with its invoice price and then totaled at the bottom. Then explicitly asked what they could do for me on the above optioned vehicle, itemizing any fees associated with the purchase.

All of the responses included either a sale price or amount over invoice.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for you reply, eric.

I was wondering where you were getting their e-mails. Most of the websites I have found are only willing to giving me a form to fill out which usually results in a phone call which usually follows with a you need to come in for us to negotiate.

I had to do some digging on a couple of the websites. Even the ones that had forms had their email addresses printed somewhere on the site.

If not, just state in your message that you want to be contact by email and make sure to include your address.

The general rule is not to give a price over the phone because they know you are shopping. The idea is to make an appointment and get the customer into the dealership where the process can be controlled.

The internet is usually a little different. They will typically give up a price but not all of the details such as fees and if they actually have that car.

It is best not to give up your phone # and keep it to email until you are ready to talk in person.
