BMS intake making car "Jerk"

Six months ago I started a thread about the car jerking around after going FBO

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1209513

Seems like the few people that noted the intake being the problem were correct. This morning I finally installed the stock intake back and the problem was solved!

No more jerking at all. BUT now the car is quite and slower. No Spool sound, Cant hear the diverter valve at all. Feels stockish. Cant have that!

How can an intake cause such a problem to the car?? Anyone else have the same problem?

A friend of mine has a m235 and has the same identical problem.

What is the solution?!

THanks

I've heard of a less stable idle at times with intakes but not "jerking" during cruise. Capture the issue in a JB4 log an throw it on n54tech and someone from BMS can offer you tuning advice for it. The intake moves more airflow so if you have something like that may need to make a tuning adjustment on the JB4 to compensate for it.

Hello, my motor is a b58 and it seems I am
slowly noticing issues as well with my BMS intake. The sound is so much better (similar to how you mentioned it), but have been noticing jerking (random rpm movement and a werid sound when letting off throttle) and I've had it installed for only about 2-3 days. I know our motors are different but maybe our motors work better with a stock air box or maybe a different kind of intake? Not sure, I will be driving the car for about another 200-300 miles, but I have a feeling I am going to take it off as well. This thread added insight. Thank you.

BMS came out with a solution to this.... i ran their intake for 30k miles no prob and then i started having issues while idleing and turning on the car, hard stuttering and hiccups on the highway. Their latest OBDll firmware elimintes the use of the MAF sensor, so you can just diconnect it and tuck it away as long as you have the appropriate obdll setup!

Really? That's your contribution?

Pretty sure many hundreds of bms intake users would disagree... Maybe thousands?
Myself included.
