Clutch slipping or boost leak?

I have a 435i xdrive msport with fmic, catless dp, intake, and jb4.
Long story short, when I'm driving and I want to to get some more power by stepping down the clutch and let go. It just revs really high and stays there revving after letting go the clutch and car doesn't move...

Stop the vehicle but leave the engine running, and then put the car in second or third gear. Let the clutch out. If the car doesn't stall, the RPMs go up, and the vehicle remains in place, you have a slipping clutch.

There are many other ways to test as well like starting in a higher gear and seeing if car catches or RPMs go up.

What is this clutch thing naiza3k speaks of?

Mike is right, give that a shot, If its slipping that bad, accelerate to about 15 miles an hour in first gear, maintain your speed and then punch it. Normally my car will just spin the tires but I have a feeling your revs will climb without the wheels spinning

It's pretty obvious if the clutch is slipping. It will feel like you are spinning tires except you're not.

Or you can throw it in 6th gear at 25-30 MPH and floor it. If revs climb and you don't pick up speed, your clutch is toast. If the car slowly starts accelerating it's probably something else

while driving to work today, I got the car to 25mph and put it in 6th gear and floored it. Car accelerated slowly so seems like the clutch is ok.

Does this mean I have a boost leak then?!?!

A boost leak usually is associated with an under boost code.

Mike! Thanks for hooking up on the parts.

So what do you think is the reason why I'm having this symptom? I don't feel like the car wants to have any wheel spins at all... and if i step on the clutch and rev up and let go, the car just stays reved and doesn't accelerate at all...

I have an auto so can't comment on the clutch part but I have had a couple CP's come loose so I know what a boost leak feels like. The RPM's will go up but the power is minimal. It's like your at 5500 RPM but your only getting 100hp.

Won't a boost leak throw a code in a modern day BMW?

It might, but both times it happened I had a JB4 and never saw anything
(maybe auto cleared) or bothered to check because I knew right away what it was.

So you had a boost leak but jb4 cleared it right away?
Where was the leaking coming from? I'm still running the stock CP so that could be why.

Also when I was installing the FMIC, i noticed there was a little bit of oil in the hoses... does this mean anything? normal?

I had my CP pop off after installing(did not tighten enough--on my e90 it was the clamp and on my F30 it was the pin at IC not being completely engaged). I did not get a CEL. I had a little oil in my stock CP on both cars.

Did you have similar symptoms as I mentioned?

Similar as in RPM going up and no power....car not moving--no. Like I said it's like my 300hp+ car at 5000 RPM feeling like it had 100hp....it still would go but not well.
