F31 330d potential issues on older cars??

Hi guys,Has anyone had any issues with the older F31's. I am just coming to the end of the warranty and mine has done 28000 miles. Has anyone had any major component failures that i need to be aware of on higher mileage cars?

Thanks in advance.

The only major failure is how much worse it looks than the saloon!

I have no doubts about it's practically, but then a van is also practical!

Sounds like it's going to take you some time before yours will be a high mileage car.

28,000 miles isn't that much further than its first oil change!

I was about to say the same thing.

I'm at about 75k and have had a few warranty claims, the cost of which have totalled nearly £3000, so I'll be extending my warranty come the time.

Personal opinion is the F31 is the best looking F3x. Even after 3 years I still turn round after parking it to savour how fantastic the thing looks.

Cheers guys. Im just trying to decide on the extended warranty if it is actually worth it? i have already had a new head unit due to a DAB fault so god knows how much that would have costed. Nor mally it would be a no brainer but money is a bit tight next year as im leaving the army. What are your thoughts?

If you are keeping the car, then warranty, however if you plan to offload when you leave or not long after I would not bother.

Really depends how many years of the extended warranty you will or expect to use.

Good luck with the exit

Bridgand i will be keeping the car until its 8-10 years old. I dont reallywant anything else and i will be buying a house in that time so having a car totally paid off will be better for mortgage application etc.

They have quoted 675 a year for the insured warranty thing.

Thanks for the well wishes on leaving the army mate, its a bit of a nerve racking time.

The other alternative is to just put say £800 a year in a savings account.

Yes it's nerve racking lol.

I managed to get out in exactly 1 month from initially raising request on JPA, interview with Boss and letter stating I had a job to go to

Managed to work for a month on two lots of wages

Get all your resettlement in.

I'd stick with a warranty for another year or two. After that you can use BMW independents for cheaper repairs and a lot more reconditioned components will be available.
Other option is to extend it and pay monthly perhaps?

I am thinking that certainly until my service pack runs out because the BMW warranty and the service pack will got hand in hand. Then look towards a decent indy. I have a really good one locally.

Have you tried the online warranty? If you adjust it by raising excess and removing emergency recovery, the price comes down a fair bit normally, we just got a 320d with 90k, with those adjustments warranty went from 1000 down to 600, the fully comp warranty is good value IMO for piece of mind

Lol, yeah right, the only angle it looks exactly the same as the F30. True from the front seat too. Actually my favourite angle is from the side. In EBII, 403s and MSport, it looks like a fish with attitude

In my personal opinion... I think The F31 looks a well balanced and proportioned design. More so than the saloon and definitely better than the 4-series coupe, which I find looks a bit 'back heavy' and unfinished.
