Next Tuesday collection of my 340 Touring
Well after what feels like a life time (ordered 31/3) so lucky compared to most, my 340 Touring will be ready for collection next Tuesday
MG with Oyster and lots of nice options that I'm looking forward to exploring. The engine and RWD being the highlights. No longer will I have to listen to the tractor like engine in the 320d or have the very safe but ultimately dull, soft handling of XDrive. The 320d I've had for 16 months, the shortest time I have ever owned a car. Not sure whether that's a daming indictment of that car or the strength of the pull of a 6 cylinder petrol BM now my miles have got below 12k pa. It's a lot of money for a car (got a great deal) but a no point during the buying wait have I questioned my decision. Now forum members I some questions. I have this car on a 3yr PCP 12k pa deal. So I calculate it will require only 2 services while under my ownership. Given that the book price of a service pack is 550, will it be worth it? Now I have not paid near book price on anything so far for this new car so that 550 could have some wiggle room in it too. Anyone know what percentage of the 550 the dealer makes on this pack, or whether it's support by BMW uk, this would help me understand the dealers position before I start haggling. I also got an amazing deal on BM gap with the 320d but fully intend to go the Frank Pickles route but if I understand the margins better I might just be able to broker a combined deal in my favour. It's all about pounds in my pocket and not the dealers so I'm really up for a final push on costs. Sorry the posts got a bit boring, the bottom line is NEW 340 on Tuesday |

Sounds fantastic. And quite like my one on order....
Though, I've got months left of waiting. Please post gratuitous amounts of pictures on collection... I've gone for the service pack for £525. 10k and 48month PCP, likely 2 services. I couldn't get discount on this after negotiating everything else... It is transferable between owners and adds to the ease of sale of the car. Trade in or private sale, it has advantages. There was a thread recently about service #2 costing nearly £500 on its own... Enjoy your collection day!

a fellow MG with oyster driver here It looks great! and don't worry too much about dye transfer - a quick wipe with some leather cleaner and it's back to new

320d xdrive to 340i RWD. It's going to be a very different beast to drive as you appreciate. A Porsche Boxter driver gave me the wave in his rear view mirror today before hurtling off around some quiet country roads near Saddleworth. To my surprise as well as his my humble F30 3 series kept up with him without too much fuss around the corners and had the edge on the straight. If ever there were wolves in sheep's clothing it's the correctly spec'd 340i's. Enjoy and my advise is invest in a speed camera detector

Yet you've bought a 340 feeling that way . I can only tell it as it is and how I perceive it!

That Porsche estate isn't far off now I think, the smaller Panamera fast back concept from a while ago would be perfect...if they'd stop rolling out SUVs

They are producing a Panamera estate next year but it's as wide as the saloon and ill-suited to the tight Yorkshire lanes around home. My business partner has the saloon and it's a great car but just HUGE. What I loved about my Porsches was how wieldy they were. The Macan is small for a full sized SUV but you're never fooled that it's a sports car, no matter what the reviewers say.

She's home!
Gents trying to upload pics but holy crap it's a clunky old system we have here.
Picked up the 340 no issues all the usual unveiling etc which was very nice. The sound and power is epic and really happy with Oyster interior. It's about to piss down and cover my car in crap |
