engine malfunction light
Any help appreciated.
I recently replaced my factory charge pipe with a charge pipe/bov kit. Whenever I go WOT I get an engine malfunction light right around 4-5k rpms. I checked the charge pipe and everything is still connected and appears to be fine. I did get the same error about two weeks before replacing the charge pipe and had my mechanic replace two vacuum lines that had a small tear from when he changed out the valve cover gasket because it felt as if the car had no boost. After he replaced the two vacuum boost came back and I stopped getting the error. car is a 2007 335xi with 85k miles on it. any ideas |

Read the codes. Then we can help.

Which charge pipe and BOV? Did you use the proper o-ring to connect onto the throttle body? Lower charge pipe seated properly? Pull the codes like everyone else said, but I'd double check your install.

I used an ecs charge pipe and bov. nothing fancy. i did double check the install and everything seems to be connected in correctly. i did order a usb otg cable and a k+dcan cable. once it arrives hopefully the mhd flasher will be able to tell me which code is coming up. and i will repost once i know what code is coming up.
thanks for the help so far |

I had the same situation for months, reduced power warning at 4000 rpm, no codes. Finally no boost. Mechanic found a crack in the oem plastic inlet tube to the rear turbo. BMW wanted three hundred and change so I went with RB inlets. Problem solved. Hope this helps.

https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...F-8#q=e90+30FF Unfortunately it could be a few things. 30FF can be caused by boost leaks, or boost control. Could just be the Vacuum Lines. Otherwise you need to check intercooler connections, charge pipe connections and as you mentioned hot and cold side of charge pipe. Could be a leaky diverter valve. Could be wastegates sticking. __________________

I have a set of dci intakes from burger tuning coming on thursday. i guess i will take off my charge pipe and reinstall it again when I'm replacing the intakes. i recently replaced the two vacuum lines right behind the oil filter, the two that connect to the vacuum canisters in early may because one of them were leaking. if i still am getting the problem i will look into all the vacuum lines to see if i can find a leak. thanks for the help torgus i've already read the first link and that was a pretty nice diy.

boost is back it ended up being the charge pipe where it connects to the throttle body. took everything apart and reconnected everything and secured it tightly and boost is back.
