Strange Ticking Noise N54.

I can't seem to get what this noise is. It's coming from this little box on the top right of my engine bay. I'll link a video any help would be wonderful thank you.

Do they need to be replaced? And I know my injectors are kinda loud but if you listen carefully you can hear a slight ticking in the background

Do you mean the very rapid ticking noise? That's probably the purge solenoid. Mine did that until I replaced it with a new one.

Yea it's a rapid tick. I'll record a new video of exactly where I hear it. But how much is it to replace that purge solenoid?

That solenoid will only tick when the car is warmed up and idling. You should be able to hear it by the driver side wheel well with the hood closed.

Yes correct, by the steering wheel is where I can hear it. Now I'm going to order it today but before I do, how hard is the install? How long does it take. I have the BMS Cowl filters so I don't have to worry about removing all that junk

Took me like 20mins and I have the oem cowl and filter. So for you it should take like 5-10 mins lol. it's located under the intake manifold closest to the firewall

Perfect, thanks man. So this solves your tick? Mine does it near where you said yours was. Near the driver side where the steering wheel is at.

It did for me. Get another video by the driver side wheel with the hood closed and I'll be able to tell if its for sure the purge valve. It's a very distinct tick that's different from injector tick.

All n54s tick like that. It's normal. You'll know when it's not.

I once had a boost solenoid make this exact sound until I replaced it. Took me forever to figure it out.
