After a great couple of years in my 330d M Sport Plus I've seen the light! It's petrol fuelled...
We have our first child on the way, and the Saloon or her Mini aren't too pram friendly... So, we're changing to a car my wife can easily load. So, I'll be enjoying the Mini's roller skate handling. Having dropped from 15k pa before I bought the 30d, to 13k in the first year and then to 9k last year... I can get myself a nice utilitarian wheelbarrow! A petrol powered load lugger. Much better for the shorter runs that we seem to be taking over. Going is my nice sporty Diesel Saloon to be replaced with a sensible family estate, for hauling stuff. Just to make it extra practical, I thought I should have wheelbarrow exhausts... Well, aren't wheelbarrows always useful for garden things and other estate car people pass times? So spec is: MY17 F31 Mineral Grey (again) Black Dakota Leather with Blue Stitching (MY17 option) Packs: M Sport Plus 442M Bi-Colour Adaptive LED Adaptive Dampers Pro-Media Pack Advanced Parking Pack Interior Comfort Pack Options: Folding/Dimming door mirrors Folding rear head restraints Headlamp Washers Model designation deletion Trim level deletion Oh yes 340i... ...to those who know their exhausts. Ordered today and expected for September delivery. Both the car and baby are due in September... Now, it's just a case of which happy arrival is first... My 30d is excellent on a run, though my commute is too short to get the best from it. It doesn't even get fully warm in winter. mpg on my 12 mile commute is only about 73%. When I tested the 40i under similar driving and distance I got 83% relative. So, man maths!...

Think that coolness might be pushing it a bit far. I would rather have a used Toureg (or however you spell it) any day..

Congrats on both counts, same happened to me 2 years ago. My lad arrived on the 16th, car was a little early and was ready for 14th but we're in hospital so picked that up on the 18th, whirlwind week that was!

I'm green! Lovely choices there Pal. Don't expect the F31 to have much more real world space tho', when you go on holiday with the pushchair, travel cot, 12 boxes of nappies, 3 boxes of baby wipes, the missus' shoes, 4 boxes of Aptamil, changing mat, clothes for all, beach tent, bucket n' spades.... Then there's your stuff.
Tell the missus that it's much bigger - then invest in a roof box! |

You forget the all important 'W' factor in your sums... Wheelbarrow noise... Worth a good few extra mpg... But, yes. It will certainly use more fuel... I'm just expecting that the difference will be less in my usage than a direct comparison would suggest. My 30d average mpg has noticeably dropped as my mileage has also. Directly I expect 29-30mpg, which I will be happy with. However, as you have calculated, my trundling 12 mile commute in flowing traffic may be up to 34mpg. Vs 42 in the Diesel.

The saloon we have has boot height issues when considering prams. Laid out flat with the chassis beside the carry cot and the boot is full! Move the cover back in a touring and stand them on their side and the boot is only half full. So, for normal use it is massively bigger. However, for longer trips away I also foresee a roof box etc.

BTW make sure your BMW dealer is aware of the impending bundle. Ours was and gave the missus a massive bouquet of flowers and me a bottle of champagne when we picked up, nice touch |

This forum must contain EVERY petrol powered F31 it's incredible. Such a rare spot out in the wild and quite an unusually choice.
Congrats Rich, that's a lovely spec!

Yep, think the 340i owners outnumber the 330d/335d contingent on here now but still rare as rocking-horse poo in the wild - I've seen two others since last November, a 340i on the M25 once and a neighbour recently bought a silver 440i 'vert.
