Spoiler

My M2 arrives in a few days and first thing I am going to do is get a rear spoiler put on it. What rear spoiler has the best combination of looks and performance? Will I notice the difference when I take corners really fast??

Performance? You'll need a wing for that...

It already comes stock with a discreet spoiler: the so-called Gurney flap.

If you want a bigger sized trunk spoiler, get the CF M Performance rear/trunk spoiler. May give you an itsy-bitsy extra downforce when driving at high speed on the Autobahn.

If you still want to go bigger: think again. You'll be upsetting the balance of the car if you won't make some changes to the car in the front too.

As you already did with your car adding the M Performance spoiler without the front splitters - at least that's what BMW claims

I pointed out in another thread that that is open for interpretation (or maybe I merely try to convince myself). What do you think ?

It is pretty fucked to fit those front things. You are going to break them in any parking lot or speed bump, especially if you fit a different lower suspension.
I wonder what a dealer will do with this. Those front and side things are like 900 EUR for a pair. This is not cool at all!!
I checked the statement again within the context of the question. Could be that the BMW representative referred with "rear spoiler" to the rear winglets (rather than to the CF M Performance trunk spoiler): you need to install the rear winglets too if you opt for the front winglets in order not to upset the balance of the M2. Makes more sense that way.

- Interview with BMW representatives about M2 M Performance Parts (source: here):
"Q: Are the front bumper winglets and and rear wheel winglets functional?
A: The front ones, yes, and the rear ones add downforce and stability, but it’s marginal. In general, we’re not going to create air elements that will upset the balance of the car. They’re all functional in some respect, which is why we’ll say that you can only pair a front splitter with the rear spoiler so you don’t upset the balance of the car. There’s no purely cosmetic aero element on an M vehicle. They all serve a purpose, some more than others.
Q: You mentioned a front splitter, will one to be offered on the M2?
A: No. At the moment, there are no plans for a front splitter."
As I reported earlier, my dealer had a set of front and rear winglets but I refused those (even if given for free).
And to get the complete back story: my dealer had installed the CF trunk spoiler by mistake on my car. He contacted me whether I was interested. I declined ("I like the CF trunk spoiler but I love the Gurney flap") and then he responded: "Uh, it's already installed - do you want us to take it off again ?". I responded: "Damn. Anyways, if it looks daft: take it off. If it looks OK, leave it on".

I already admired that image in our 1addicts FB thread

But thanks, I've never looked at it on a big screen! Just only on the small iPad display. Looks marvellous! Can''t wait to get the CF spoiler and diffusor. You had the Akra on your 1M, was there a special reason why you've went with the MPE this time (timing maybe?)? Thanks!

Timing + BMW M product conceived for this car (with two modes) + harmony with the diffusor + BMW warranty.

You should see and hear it IRL.

Well, I will be at the Welt this week for the M days (and a little daytrip with the M2s bigger cousin, the M4). I really hope there is a M2 with the MPE on display.

Try to get to hear it under load too, instead of only on static display.

Is it necessary to remove the gurney flap when installing the CF spoiler?
