Had a remap, lost a remap, got it back again... with a little bit more!

After my engine management system was re-programmed by the dealer this week I could immediately tell that this meant I'd dropped a few horses and was back to standard. It seems weird saying that 313BHP felt slow, but there is not getting away from the fact it did compared to what I'd got used to over the last 60k miles.
So quick visit to DMS in Southampton today and had it re-installed. Have to say their service was great- no problems with doing it, and arranged at a couple days notice.
Previously I went for a conservative remap due to my high miles (wanted the engine and gearbox to last well over 100k miles), but with a new company car on the way I figured I might as well go the whole hog this time. So instead of back up to 360bph as it was before it's now around 380-390bhp apparantly and about 740NM of torque.
And on the drive home it bloody felt like it too!

Have to say, I'm completely spoiled now and can't imagine not having such a powerful car. If anybody with a 335d is getting a little bored of their but fundamentally likes it then consider a remap, it really does bring a very large smile to the face

Maybe it's time for another forum meet at Surrey rolling road!

And good timing for the Evo track evening at Bedford tomorrow.

Great work Terry.

If yours doesn't blow up I may even get the 50d done.

If yours DOES blow up, I will NOT consider getting the 50d done.

That would be the wrong conclusion, it could just be that you shouldn't take heavy AWD vehicles to track days!

Yeah no problems. I think it'll be the suspension that's more impressive than the remap (hopefully!) though.

Good move Terry. You're remap has been faultless thus far, and I can't see 30bhp and 40Nm causing any undue problems.

Yes, no charge. They return a lot of cars back to standard and then re-install after services or warranty work apparently. All part of the service I guess and maybe goes some way to justifying their higher costs.

Yeah the 330e will feel a bit slow, but not horrendously so. Maybe get that remapped too!

Well 380ish horses, ACS RS suspension, dot 5.1 fluid and EBC yellow stuff pads.... Should be decent enough but I suspect GT Senna Sussex will be in the true flying machine!

Always meant to ask, have you replaced the brake hoses with braided ones? or are the std ones ok for track use?

Yes I have Hel braided hoses on mine, done same time as the rake fluid change. Not sure how much difference they made but the fluid definitely did as I've done track work before and after and it about doubled the amount of laps before fade started.
Will be interesting to see if the yellow stuff pads make much difference this time around.

Always used to recommend fluid and hose change to anyone that planned to track there Lotus. And if I ever get a track car it'll be the first thing I'll do.

Enjoy tomorrow afternoon and keep it on the black stuff

Don't know much about the 330e what bhp is that putting out as standard?

Presumably they can remap this type of car as well but it would it be possible to map it to the same output as your 35d?

I've just been on the DMS website and noticed the very 380-390bhp apparantly and about 740NM of torque. Upgrade you're referring to.

It's got the 320i petrol motor and then the electric motor on top to give a total of 258bhp with both both powertrains engaged. Given the 320i can be remapped to close to 330i power figures then I'm guessing this one might be able to be pushed to around 300bhp altogether.

However this will be a company car and I'm pretty sure modifying a company car would be classed as gross misconduct and hence immediately a sackable offence, so can't see I will be that fussed. And besides, one of the reasons for me doing this is to have a work vehicle that I don't care about and then a proper weekend toy I can modify to my hearts content.

I haven't had a chance to verify it at a rolling road, but my previous one I asked them to limit to 700NM and it put out 360bhp on an independent dyno. The one they re-installed was their latest one with no such limiting considerations and it did feel a smidgen quicker on the bum dyno so 380 sounds do-able.
At the forum dyno meet last year the Eco tune car put out over 380 so it's clearly do able for the engine, and no reason to think mine will be any less.

Oh I think you'll keep up! Know what you mean about losing the remap. My 335d felt dog slow once I took the ACS box off it.
