Any 4k adopters?
Has anyone upgraded to a 4K TV recently, and actually play 4K content on it via 4k Netflix and/or 4K Bluray etc? Sky Q doesn't have it yet but BT Sport have an UHD channel.
I'm considering a new TV for the hell of it, but have read some articles saying you need to either sit ridiculously close to the TV, or have a ridiculously large screen to see the detail 4K offers. Would welcome any thoughts or experience.

I went 4k and OK, don't watch so much other than Netflix but it's definitely the future and much better than 3D. I have a 55" TV and site around 8' - 12' from it in the living room - the pictures is astounding. We also use 4K in a surgical setting at work, 55" is the sweet spot screen size there too. Worth every penny of the £850!

Yep, if you are buying now you'd be stupid not to go UHD.
I've got last years top of the range Panny 55" and Netflix 4K content looks amazing! I sit at least 3m away for the telly....... Avoid Samsung curved like the plague, so many stories of cloudy screens due to edge light on all but the 5+ grand models, I went through 2 replacement screens before rejecting mine. One of the techs fitting the replacement also said that while oled is good, hang fire a bit longer before going that route as the screens can be very fragile..... |

Not a fan of the curved screens, and I understand that OLED will be the reference in terms of picture quality but they've still a way to go in terms of motion handling etc. Good to know - thanks. Its HDR sets I'm looking at. Have a visit planned to John Lewis tomorrow if I can my meetings out of the way in time.

Some sports people and 'celebrities' on the telly shouldn't be viewed in HD let alone in 4K or HDR.

It's awsome. I love watching breaking bad 4k resolution on netflix. I have a Sony 4k Tv and a Samsung 8500 UHD curved Tv. Both great TV's and picture are very good. I find samsung abit more sharper on picture and they uprate the picture slightly but Sony has nicer colours!
If you pay anything more than £1-1.5k for a TV it isn't worth it. My samsung was listed at £2400 last year and i bought it for £1300 and these tv will last me over 5 years hopefully. It has fallen a further few hundred quid now http://www.cramptonandmoore.co.uk/sa...FcQp0wodxQYBzg

We were in John Lewis a few months ago and they had a Samsung 4K on display and it was stunning. We nearly bought it there and then but I asked the staff if it was playing a 4K blu Ray demo disc and they said it was.
Then I noticed the exact same tv but a slightly smaller size near the back playing normal tv. Didn't seem that special so we didn't buy it in the end.

As I tend to go to a fair few display tech events, I am just holding fire on it all.
I will likely jump to QUHD and watch the women's beach volley ball As long as you get a future proof UHD, then it's fine or you need to change in a couple years. However, if due a to, just get one that looks good and if you plan to use Netflix 4K, make sure it's one that handles Netflix 4K protocol. |

Like others have said 4k is great. Due to where the TV is in our house we went for a 48", sitting at about 2.5-3m and it definitely looks gorgeous. Amazon Prime stuff in 4k, although I am looking forward to Virgin's 4k upgrade.
One thing I would avoid is curved sets. Unless they are huge the viewing angles are rubbish. Anything off-centre just washes out and looses definition.

I'm in the market to upgrade my Pioneer 60" Kuro to 4k HDR.
Undecided on what type of TV panel to go for though. LCD or OLED, both have their pro.s & con's.. Sony 75" or LG 65". Nothing less than 60" though. Screen size & distance from viewing position is important though to get the best experience from 4k. Apparently SKY aren't starting the UHD service untill the end of summer. It's a pity that the Euro 2016 championships won't be broadcast in UHD in the UK. That would have made my decision sooner. As for Netflix, Amazon & UHD BluRay there is nothing on there at the moment to interest me. Think i will wait untill nearer the end of the year when more content is available. |

I've been holding off on getting into 4k until there is more content and the HDR sets were released. After seeing the new 55" LGE6 in John Lewis the other day if I can make the man maths compute, one of those will be in my house shortly.

Think you'll be looking at a lot of cash for a 4K projector!
Mind you perfectly happy with our 1080p one at the mo don't feel it needs a 4K uplift. Rarely go to th cinema anymore with a 105" screen at home! |

Yes. Got a Sony 55" 4k with a 4k Sony home cinema amp and 7.1 set up. Worth every penny in my opinion.
Even better is that the old 46" is now only used in the back room for the PS4!!!
