Android, Spotify and Prof Media
Hi all, new owner of a 2013 335d and my brain is already fried trying to get music in my new baby.
After picking the car up yesterday and trying to connect my phone to allow Spotify to play, either by USB connection or Bluetooth I'm continually hitting a brick wall. The Bluetooth connection will only recognise my phone (Galaxy S7) for calls and not as a media device. Plugging in with a cable to the armrest USB, the Idrive still doesn't recognise my phone as a media device. Annoyingly, I've just plugged my mates IPhone in and it works like a dream, album artwork, the lot! Any suggestions what to do, my quick searches have left me blinded with software updates, coding, etc, with no definitive answer. Help!! |

I may be wrong here (and more knowledgeable people can comment) but:
1) Are you sure your car has extended bluetooth? If it does not, or if it has not been enabled, then you can't get music streaming no matter what. 2) Android phones on a 2013 with CIC are not recognized as a media device when plugged in, so you won't be able to use it to browse your music and play it the same way as an iPhone. Can you post your car's build? Do you have 6NH? 6NK? 6NS? In my 2013 335 I had to change 6NH to 6NK for music streaming over bluetooth. Mind you I have the premium package which means Navigation, and also Combox. If your car has no Combox, you are out of luck. My previous car (2013 328) did not have Nav and therefore Combox and I could not have music streaming over bluetooth.

If you have no combox (for me, this meant no tech package), you're stuck using the Y-cable. Or you can buy a BT dongle for the auxiliary port, but this means you have to handle everything through the iPhone. |

I don't think the car has extended Bluetooth, is this something that I can have coded?
How do I find out whether I have 6NH, 6NK or 6NS? How can I change whatever version that I have? I do have premium nav and media, I assume the combox is the ability to store music in on the car, which I CAN do. Thanks |

Go here: http://www.bmwvin.com/
Put your VIN in and look for any of 6NH,6NK, or 6NS. 6NH = You don't have it but can code it 6NS or 6NK = You have it Quote:
