To my dismay I realized that video is not supported through the USB port in the armrest on CIC iDrive vehicles. Can anyone confirm that my options at this point are video through DVD's or through a cradle with an iPhone 4/5 (I have options 6NF/6NL/6NR)?

The cradle option may work, however is it possible to have a different phone tethered to Bluetooth? My plan would be to have a dedicated backup phone permanently connected that would house video, while my actual phone still acted as the primary source of BT streaming/calls.
