2006 330XI
So I just picked up my 2006 330XI 6MT jet black last Sunday 5/1/2016. Great car overall. I came out of an AP1 S2000, and before that an E46 330Ci. I've noticed there isn't much aftermarket support for this model. My question is what other e90 models can I buy that'll fit it? Looking for full catback (active autowerke preferred) coilovers, etc. Will parts from an e90 328xi (pre-lci) fit? 335xi?

you already have the 330 with the upgraded 3 stage intake.
Power wise there is not much you can do . The best mod would be ESS supercharger ( 5000 $) and it will bring you up to 300 whp ( more or less) You could also add headers , AA headers are around 800 plus AA off road tune at 500 $ would give you another 18-25 whp K and N filter with charcoal delete may give you 2-3 WHP but it will improve sound and responsiveness Catback exhaust will give you a nice sound , but again it won't do much improvement power wise. AA tune by itself is around 500 $ and it will give you a 5-8 whp bump but it will get rid of the lag Not many options but there are some |

2006 was a transition year from the E46 to the E90. The 325i and 330i name were carried over from the E46 for that production year only. The biggest differences are with the N52 engine for that year. The 2006 N52's used a magnesium valve cover and an external CCV. From 2007 on the 328 replaced the 325 and the N52 in the 328 uses a plastic valve cover with an integrated oil separator. Otherwise, the engines are the same. The 330i was only produced in 2006 and was replaced by the 335i with the twin turbo N54. So, when looking for engine parts you want to be sure you are looking for N52 parts for the 2006 model year.
With the 2006 N52 you may experience some ticking from the valve train. At times these engines can sound like they have a spun rod at idle or a diesel. If you hear a ticking on a cold start it's mostly likely the hydraulic valve adjuster, or HVA, making the noise. There's a sticky thread at the top dedicated to this issue. It could have been fixed by BMW under warranty on your 330i with a new head but I doubt it. I have an 06 325i with the HVA tick and it's annoying sometimes but harmless.

OP, check out www.realoem.com , it is a very useful site for bmw owners.
It gives what exact parts your car has and cross reference to which other year and models same parts were used. |
