UR CAI Installed....

couple of days ago. First of all this is a great design in general. However UR could have gone the extra mile to making this a excellent design. For one they could have added some type of brace for the lower portion of the intake...i.e. installed a brace where the filter connects. Second issue which I belive someone else has mentioned in a previous thread is that the filter that comes with the CAI is WAY TO small FOR THIS APPLICATION! I have sense taken the advice from the previous thread that talks about this same issue and purchased the K&N RR-3002 filter. All I have to say is the car pulls much harder

how's the fit down there with the new filter? And do you think a bigger one could fit?

I didnt hear a peep from UR. Its fine and all, but definately could use some improvements.

Yes a larger filter will fit. Specifically the K&N RR-3002 that another member suggested. This is the same filter I went to aswell. Much better performance.

For those of you that have the ur CAI , whats the part number of their filter?

And do you think the k&n filter part number rx-4730 would fit? Its about the same dimensions as rr-3002 but its 1 inch wider.

The filter included is rated up to what 700CFM before becoming a restriction. Think it's OK. I would have liked a bigger one too, but there's just no room.

I honestly cant remember what was in my way...I just know I tried it about 10x and it just wouldnt fit. The diameter of the base of the filter was too large and interfering. Maybe it was the foglight bracket or something. I dont recall. Heck, I'll take another look this weekend.

Yup definately try again. Your suggestion was spot on man If I had not tried your idea, I would have gone back to stock.

I just like the fact that this filter has that open cone to allow more forced air!! Let us know if indeed it fits, because from my install i noticed anything bigger would not fit, but I didn't have a bigger one to actually see for myself!!! Keep us posted

Like I said, I tried and tried and without CRUSHING the filter, I couldnt get it even close to fitting. Maybe its ok on the E90s as punisher said.

I agree with what your saying, but retrofit just bought one....Lets see how it goes with him..If it fits and he had to crush it into place, then that obviously is useless in my book!!! Well see.

e90 probably has more room or bigger engine bay than e92,
at where the filter is sitting with Logic's intake, e90 has more room there than e92, i noticed this while at Max's shop, different body frame near that area
