Limp Mode Help
I posted yesterday about a friend with a 07 E90 328xi having a strange warning pop up on her screen, someone on the forum mentioned that it was the transmission light.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=125430 Turns out it was the trans. warning light, as the car went into limp mode, and had to be flat bedded to the dealer. The first time the warning came on was after she had been driving for 45 minutes, after a stop and restart it went away (no limp mode). Today, however, after 50 minutes of driving (on the highway, some at 50 mph some of it in stop and go traffic), it came on, she pulled over, stoped and restarted, this time into limp mode. After waiting for the tow truck for around 30 minutes they were able to drive it up onto the flat bed without a problem, no warning, no limp mode. The dealer is telling her that it is an intermittent problem, that they can't diagnose. My first thought went to the trans. overheating, or the heat sensor going bad. What type of questions should she ask the dealer tomorrow, and has anyone experienced anything like this, if so what was wrong and what fixed the problem. Could an updated Progman help? Thanks for the help.
