Any experience with R56 JCW N14?

So getting bored of my E92 320d especially when the driving I do probably isn't great on the DPF and just about returning 40mpg

Looking at possibly changing to a 2009-2010 JCW with the N14 but looking up on them they seem pretty unreliable with reports of high oil consumption, HPFP issues, timing chain issues, electrical issues etc

Anyone got any experience with them or is this all just typical internet exajuration?

Put 11000 on my JCW in 6 months of ownership and had no issues at all, so much more reliable than my 335i

Just make sure you buy some oil from ECP with a good discount code (or buy a big drum). Keep the engine well looked after and you probably wont have any issues.

I've been so tempted recently, I love the way they look, especially if you fit the GP rear splitter and lower it slightly (especially the rear)

But I've just looked online and the price of the new F56 JCW are plummeting after a year and very little mileage, can pick one up, 15/65 plate with 3,000 miles for £22k which compared to the new price of £27-£28k isn't bad, but still expensive for a Mini!

I did sit in one not long ago in their Exeter showroom and was very impressed, made more of an impression on me than the 2 and 4 series have when I've sat in them

It's always a gamble buying second hand though as to whether it has been looked after PROPERLY, all well and good looking through service booklets but receipts and invoices are often not there, and I'm even wary of service stamps as I know people that have gone in to mates garages and gone mad with the stamp right before putting their car up for sale!

The R56 JCW seem to be selling fast as well, I've emailed sellers about 3 different cars now and heard back from them on the same day saying that they have just sold the car that morning!

A little bit of work and they are rapid little buggers as well , had a decat downpipe , remap , intake and coilovers fitted to mine and it's a riot to drive.

Still manage high 30s mpg too

I can imagine, mum always says she gets good mpg in hers, my Mrs in her 1st Gen S however...we struggled to get 30mpg driving it up to Manchester and that was at 65 the whole way!
