Forgot to order display key, can I order a key separately? Thx!

I had a client order another key and it required a module be installed if I remember correctly. they whole thing was a rather expensive process.

yes, you are right, the older keys wont work anymore if replace the module. need new module with display key. They lied to me said it's easy to order.

Did your client success to install? how much for total? thank you!

they did successfully do it as well as have 2 display keys. I do not remember the total price but if I recall it was over 5k

5K USD!!! that's a lot!!! How many manpower hours did they charge? Do you know how much for the parts?

already picked up the car. The dealer forgot to place display key order when built the car.

Did the dealer "forget" or did the dealer just choose not to order that option on the car they found for you in inventory? You didn't place a bespoke order from the factory did you?

Ah... OK. So they didn't "forget". You just took delivery of a car that didn't have the option. Got it. You're not really missing anything, so I wouldn't spend the $5K to retrofit. It's cool, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't do anything the iPhone / Android app doesn't already do (besides unlock / lock the car).

Definitely a feature we want if we end up with G11. Curious... what is the best way to find out if a car on the lot has display key? I assume the window sticker lists it?

Car on the lot should be part of the online new car inventory in the dealer web site. You should be able to see the equipped options from the site in the comfort of your own home.

If that's the case then most if not all of the ones in my area do not have the option... even on cars with sticker of 135+ ... Plan to see some in person this weekend and I'm guessing they just dont bother to or take the time to list those details.

Q on the key -- if the car comes with 1 and you want another you just have to purchase another at dealer or do you have to special order?

Totally agree terrainx -- you'll have to do all the research yourself. Many of the sales people I worked with didn't know as much about the car as I did. If the key was ordered with the car, it should definitely be listed on the window sticker. I've included a picture of my own window sticker (which I kept) here for reference...

I kicked the tires on more than a dozen 750's this weekend and 100% had display key on their sticker. Looks like dealers have learned that it's easy option to add at the build stage but not so easy post. The bad news is that of the dozen I looked only one or two were not being held due to re-call.

Place an order -- get exactly what you want. Don't take what's been sitting around on a dealer lot with people screwing with everything inside (and out).

Nice and congrats. Look forward to hearing what you spec. We are considering ordering a 750 17 but they are not yet taking orders on the 750 which does not make sense to us.
