Myth: E90 330i and 328i exhaust is the same

Looking for a new muffler for my 328 and found i can save about $200 bucks if i order one for a 330i. Can anyone confirm or refute that they are the same and will fit because I remember seeing a post over on bimmerfest saying they would.

Thanks

not the same since the 330i has an exhaust flap on one side. you could however mod it so the flap stays open all the time. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40767

325i and 328i look very similar though, if not the same.

sorry... should have been more clear.

the muffler i am looking for is an aftermarket one so i just wanted to know if its the same where it would mount up properly and hang in the same places, ect...

i didn't really see any evidence that it wouldn't work in that DIY thread

I would think the 328 and 330's would be identical if not the same. Isn't the 328 really a 330? Same engine, different badge?

thats what i understand... just wanted to make sure the components of the exhaust hadn't changed, my guess is no since an e90 is still an e90 but with the engine tuned differently. i don't want to spend the money on something that won't fit.

for aftermarket exhausts, the 325/8/30 are the same. They use the same hanger positions.
