M Performance Carbon fiber shift knob

Hi all,

So I am interested in ordering the above mentioned shift knob. A BMW dealer on eBay is telling me it won't fit the M2 (the listing is for an F30). I would think a shift knob is a shift knob. I understand how the alcantara boot which comes with the knob might not fit. But I don't care about the boot, I just want the knob. I told them this, but I have yet to get a response.

Anyone have any insight?

Sorry, I don't have time right now to post up a pic of the knob.. here is the link on eBay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-M-Perfor...xSLdlY&vxp=mtr

Thanks for any info

But stock isn't carbon fiber!!!

Joking aside, why do you say this? I have a similarly shaped knob on my S2000 and I kinda like how it feels...

I don't like how it feels. Feels cheap. I like a good leather knob. Plus it will not match anything in the car.

Yep, I was thinking the same thing (regarding the CF)....

Only thing is I believe both knobs are attached to their respective boots. So I have to figure out how to detach the knobs from the boots. I would like to keep the OEM M2 boot, since the blue stitching matches the rest of the cars trim.

Thanks

I thought the following part# is the MP knob for M2, which should come with the blue stitches?

25 11 7 854 546 = 6MT gear knob & boot for right hand drive M2

On the other hand, anyone know if there is CF hand break handle for M2 as well? I only notice the interior package for DCT.

Hmmm. Interesting. Let me check on that. I ordered one specifically for an f30 (because it was cheaper on eBay).

But if what you listed is truly for the M2, I may just return what I have and not deal with separating the boots

Thanks for the info

I think the 1M community had a similar situation; they wanted the illuminated f10 knobs but wanted to retain their orange-stitched oem shift boots. I'd do a quick search on the 1addict forum to see if there are any pics/diys-- i don't imagine its too difficult to make the MP knob work. Here is a start http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...4&postcount=39

Hmmm. A quick search on several BMW parts dealers, and most didn't have the part listed; One site had it but no images or price, so I'm not quite sure what I was looking at.

Has anyone found the CF M-P knob/boot specifically for the M2?

TIA

For LHD, the part number is 25 11 7 854 545. My dealer was able to get at least one for me and one for himself. So, your dealer should be able to order it with that part number. MSRP is 183.93.

This picture should give you an idea of what it is.

Great info. Ugh I went ahead and ordered the M-P boot/knob for an f30. Price I pay for being inpatient. Maybe I'll gently wrap it back up and return it

shifter looks right at home with the rest of the interior components. in fact, it may look too good! How's it feel day-to-day and how much manipulation did it take to exchange shifters and retain das boot?

This is what it looks like post install:

http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...9&postcount=59

So there's a boot/knob specifically for the M2 (see post above with part #). My dealer said it would take 3 weeks to arrive from Germany. I ordered one made for an F30, so the stitching on the boot was white. It's very easy removing and reinstalling the boot. Also easy removing the knob itself (just requires some force).

Tricky part is removing the knob from the boot itself. There are 3 tabs which secure the knob to the boot. Honestly, I snapped off the two smaller ones. But the large one, as well as some crazy glue, is enough to keep the knob attached to the boot.

Best bet is to be patient and order the MP boot/knob specifically for the M2

Yes, does the shifter change the stock feel at all? Throws any tighter or shorter?
