How many are in the order bank waiting on production number?

Wondering how many of us have are in the order bank waiting on a production number with a deposit down. It seems very common right now and I don't know of many if any have a production number on a non HEA car. I am in the order Bank and a bit frustrated that i don't have a production number so curious to see who does. please share your situation

Garage List
2023 BMW S1000RR  [0.50]
2022 BMW F900XR  [3.00]
2022 BMW X6 40i  [0.50]

#1 on list; order bank status = 47; hoping for a July allocation

BTW, as zenmaster stated BMW needs to provide your dealer with an allocation before your order can be accepted. Being in the order bank with a 47 status is informing BMW that there is demand for x car configured in y way. How BMW uses that information or not in their allocation algorithm no one knows.

#3 at my dealer. As far as I know they're getting their HEA and one other allocation. So if the person in the #1 slot takes the HEA, that means I should be next in line whenever they get their 2nd round of allocations.

CA said I am in the order bank and asked me to submit my build. Expected production end of month so he says? If it's end of month, would I have more information by now?

My Dealer had 2 Allocations. Im number 2. I talked to my CA today inquiring about a Production Number. Was told that Allocation Number 1 ( not mine ) is still awaiting a Production Number. My production assignment was not in the foreseeable future. He did conject that I might see my car in August this year. So, Im thinking a Production Number in June sometime ?

Be aware that the number of allocations your dealer was told to expect and the number granted are two different things.

That doesnt have sense to me. I was in the order bank for about 2 months then finally got an allocation about 2 weeks ago (status 111) with a week 23 production date.

I'm in the same boat, but dealer sent me an email just yesterday and said my car was in production. With that said - I sent him 3 emails asking for the production # and still waiting. My guard is still up if there is truely a car or just stringing me along.

If it's true, I wish I would have known as I wanted to change the color to the Mineral Grey - on well, guess I'll have to stick with the LBB.

This is something your dealer can't tell you and not do. BMW financial uses production status to determine things like lease extensions.

Is there really an "order bank"?

My guess they are just using a term that sounds better than "waiting list".

Trust you gut with these things. My transaction was very transparent.

1) Waiting List
2) Allocation issued to dealer
3) Signed sales order forms
4) Production number assigned and build date provided.
5) Car was built 3 months later on the exact week they showed as a build week.

Steps 2 -4 completed with 48 hours.

Your transaction was far more transparent than most I have heard about. I know there is an actual order bank that dealers add their desired builds to, what isn't clear to me is how they access that bank and what limits are placed on it. I am not too anxious right now, my preferred timeframe is getting a car in September because we are juggling the start of my wife's residency and the purchase of a home so I wouldn't want to get a car before August really but I also don't want to sit around for months waiting in the dark so a more clear and transparent process with my dealer would be nice. I am sure if BMW was pumping out allocation at a higher rate the process would be more transparent, I know my dealer is getting calls from all the guys who are in the order bank but it doesn't appear there is much information to be had right now, at least with my dealer. I am on the lists of several other dealers who are also waiting on allocations beyond the initial HEA cars.

I'd bet the order bank is some basic accounting of who wants what and how much are they willing to pay held in the sales managers office. I think it becomes less transparent when the dealer is playing games with customers. I didn't get the feeling there was any formal BMW NA process for tacking possible car builds or a backlog of buyers wanting cars.

I'm just guessing based on my single transaction. I still think that that if you don't have a production number you're just on a waiting list.

I think your correct. Short of having an actual allocation there isn't any assurance of a car, its pretty frustrating. If it comes down to it I may end up searching the country for a car on a lot for MSRP and paying for it to be shipped half way across the country. My desired spec is probably the most common, LBB DCT, Exec so hopefully when the time is right I will either have an order number or be able to find a car. I really wish I would have joined about a dozen lists back in October when the car was announced but that is water under the bridge. I will get a car, there is no doubt about that, it just will boil down to when and how.

What it comes down to is this: dealers get allocations, NOT customers.

BMW NA frankly doesn't care what they do with their allocation, that's up to each individual dealer.

This, compounded with the extremely low production numbers, has pushed several customers into MY17 or 2017 altogether.

My advice is this: don't trust dealers right now with M2 promises, as they simply can't guarantee that you'll get one.

This is the way it works.

However the allocations come out monthly. May allocations should come up first week of the month and there will be another flurry of happiness around the end of the month for US owners
