Why is the BMW given second place in the CO2 infographic? It should be in last with 185 grams per kilometer. Silly editors.

Thanks for posting.

If you can live with the image and poor interior Focus RS is a bargain performance car.

Ford Focus RS - "got everything it takes to play the game at the same high level as Boxster S and M2. And that is an astonishing achievement.

Indeed indeed and for less money too.

No doubt. It might have put both the others to shame a little more if they all three were manual as well. With the focus as manual only, it's interesting that they went with DCT on the others ( or ... Perhaps that's what the manufacturers fed them )

I love what the Focus RS is and the spirit it embodies. It's a victory for enthusiasts everywhere. Sadly, I personally find it incredibly ugly to look at. If it were less obnoxious-looking, I would probably be on a waiting list. Heck, I may still get on that list, but I'd have to shield my eyes every time I walk up to the car.

History will remember these years as the beginning of the slow-but-gradual decline of the internal combustion engine, but we are still fortunate enough to be spoiled for choice between cars like the RS, the GT350, and of course the M2.

There's no doubt that the Focus RS is a real performance machine - it packs a serious punch.

I am not sold on the looks of it, but that is always very subjective anyway.

It will also be fun to see what sort of tuning potential the 718 has in comparison to the M2. I can't remember the exact numbers, but my recollection is that the turbo is running some pretty high PSI numbers...maybe there's not a ton of tuning space left?

There's a thread on here that says that early returns from AA are that there is not much headroom left in the M2's turbo, unfortunately....

I get the M2 and 718 comparison.

But why the hell are they comparing it to the RS, an AWD hyper-hatch? I understand it if you were comparing the RS to Audi's RS3 or Merc's A45...

Really? I guess that's not surprising...might be one of the biggest differences between this version of the N55 and the S55 (along with 2 turbos vs. 1).

Yes, but as other threads are discussing, there are excellent ways for more power and torque with a different turbo and proper fueling

Well yes.

It's nice when there's room on the stock internals, that's all.

I find it really odd that there has been complaints about lag on these new Porsche engines since they have a ton of experience with turbocharged engines

Not to the same extent Porsche has IMHO. They had the 2002 Tii, and of course had that monster of an engine in F1, but they didn't really have anything after that until the N54.

Porsche on the other hand, has continuously been making turbo charged engines for 4 decades.

I can't seem to find the post now, but Chris Harris, who loves Porsche, admits that the 911.2 Carreras was the worst transition from NA to FI compared to the M3/4 and 488.

Having said all that, I still would like to test drive these cars to get my personal opinion. Not that I ever need excuses to drive Porsches

After the 2002 tii .. then there indeed was a little car with a monster engine.that was used in F1 .. it was called the BMW 320 turbo

http://www.roadandtrack.com/motorspo...ic-collection/

At the same time I know that there were some 7 series models street cars also..

BMW 7-Series (E23) had some turbo models 745 from 1979-1989 - Designer Paul Bracq

I am willing to bet there are more..

I stand corrected. I guess I wasn't as familiar with those models than I thought I was. I forgot about the 320 race car. That thing was so cool.

Regardless, I look forward to video reviews of matchups like this.

The focus RS may have good performance, but the looks of it are not my cup of tea. Looks like its aim is the fast and furious rice crowd. The interior is not good looking and although this is subjective, I would never buy one of these. Very tacky looking compared to these much classier looking vehicles. That porche is amazing and in another league
