Anyone tried fitting "semi blacklines"?

Looking at the photos that have been posted of members' cars fitted with the blackline rear lights, I have noticed the top part of the inner half (i.e. the lens on the actual trunk lid) seems darker than the outer half. I was wondering if anyone has tried leaving the stock inner half and just fitting the blackline outer half?

I think it looks good like that (though, obviously with both sides matching). I might try it. Thanks for your help

Fascinating!

Actually, I was considering doing the exact opposite. Leaving the red outer lens covers in place and just changing out the inner (reverse lights).

On my SG E90 I've always thought that the white inner lens covers stand out like a sore thumb due to the high contrast between the white and the sparkling graphite. If I could just change the inner lights I think the look would be much more subtle.

Anyone interested in doing a two stage install and taking a photo? It would be worth several beers in either Vancouver or San Diego!
