Climate Control Memory?

Why does my F30 revert to the last used climate control setting when I start the car?

For example: I have the AC on with Fan blowing at level 1 and I decide that I don't want the AC on so I turn the Fan blower off. (nothing on display, no LED's lit) Some time later, I park and turn off my car, when I come back and turn on my car, the AC is on, and Fan is blowing at level 1.

Why isn't the climate control system OFF like it was when I turned the car off? I always have to turn the system off when I start the car. This makes no sense at all and is inconvenient!

Thanks!

You have to code that in - forgot what the code was though. I know for MY2016, it remembers by default now whether it was on or off.

That requires coding? Bizarre! It is what it is I guess...

Is this tied to drive presets? Like, depending on which fob you use?

Don't know, since I'm the only one who drives the car.

The code to remember if the climate control was on or off was IHKA > 3002 > MEMORY_OFF

Aside from the Climate Control Memory for the on/off operation, it is tied to driver memory as well for temperature and settings.

And by default the code is off unless you change the code?

Does the "Anti-Dazzle Headlight Coding" also include the feature where the headlights auto-level depending on the incline/decline or if you're at an intersection?

When I turn off the AC it seems to stay off for future starts. But turning the system off (with bottom fan button) does not leave it off - it comes back on in the low fan position.

I would want it that way - leaving the system totally off can lead to unwanted climate conditions - such as misted windows and then you have to turn it on again.

To store changes in memory for your key make sure you have turned on the setting (Settings / Door & Key / Last Seat position)

Then turn off the A/C - get out and "lock" your car.
Wait 15 minutes and when you unlock it the A/C should still be off - let us know if it works.

Cheers

2013 328i xDrv F30 N20 - having issue with computer recognizing new TPM Module and getting (malfunction) error still. Also, at the same time, my climate control has started to default to 72°F, Auto, and 3 fan setting everytime I turn car off and start again.
Any thoughts?

A.I. not around when thread was created

I was struggling with this same issue... and cant find any decent anwers on the web.

Enter, ChatGPT!

The memory settings for 'how you set your sh!t up' arent stored in IHKA.... but in CAS.

Who'd have guessed. (not me).

I'm about to go have a sniff around (its 17:30 on new years eve) - and MAY post a follow up.
