My new Black Sapphire 335xi Coupe
Picked up my new E92 on Friday night. Spent most of the weekend driving her, including a trip down to my Dad's place in Scituate (South Shore, Massachusetts)
As I said, she got some driving in, so please forgive the dirt! Painted corners will go on next weekend, and summer wheel/tire setup to come in about a month. This car is amazing! Last edited by AWD Addict; 05-26-2008 at 10:05 AM.. |

I'm still hoping it settles a bit, but dropping it is simply not an option with the amount that I drive and the roads up here in shambles for 5 months. I'm secretly hoping we get one more decent storm though to play with the nokians. It'd be a shame if I had to wait till october to have some fun in them.
Don't tell anyone though. Last edited by AWD Addict; 03-09-2008 at 09:01 PM.. |

Congrats on the whip. It looks really nice. I would suggest getting rid of the side marker though.

So your car had the 18" wheel upgrade option for the Sports Package from the factory and you bought the Nokians afterwards? Where did you get them and as mentioned before how do you like them? Are they RFTs? Not many winter tires for those wheels - I have looked.
Also, I keep on going back and forth between Jet and Sapphire Black. What made you go Sapphire in the end? I am in the Boston area as well. |

if you go the metallic, and your car eventually swirls up, u give it a good compound/polish/wax and you it will become virtualy swirl free... now if you go jet black (non-metallic), once it swirls, you can make it shiny again, but you could never FULLY remove the swirls. it is painted differently, someting to do with clear coat being in the paint vs with metallic the paint is applied and then the clearcoat as a seperate coat on top! but believe me, im in the detailing business as well! GOOD CHOICE on going metallic!!! |

I've only been on the tires since Friday (2.5 days, about 1.5 hours highway, and about 1 hour back roads on them so far, both downtown and country roads. Weather was pouring rain, 30-40 degrees Saturday, and 40, Sunny today. They're Hakkpeliita Rsi, in 225 40 R18s (all four corners). Tires have already broken in substantially, and are actually pretty quiet for snows. I barely hear them, unless I turn off the radio and listen. They corner well and leave you comfortable at speed on ramps, and are nice at speed and in corners. It was hard to rate them in the rain, as they still only had 5-15 miles on them, and weren't broken in at all. I got them locally. Nokian doesn't like allowing the big guys to undercut the smaller retailers, so no tirerack.com . Stay away from tires-easy.com. Awful experience. They're one of the few online sellers I was able to find, and they're 0 for 2 with me. Try Rim & Wheel works in Waltham, MA. The girls over there were awesome, and hooked me up on short notice with great pricing (as good as the cheapest onine seller). Nokian doesn't have a ton of offerings in this range with the Hakka Rsi's. They aren't run flats. I went with the Sapphire because I saw both in person, and the metallic is absolutely gorgeous. I like the deepness of the Jet Black, but it's just not as interesting. The car has an almost iridescence with the sappire. The second picture is as best you can capture the effect on camera. It's much more impressive in real life. Last edited by AWD Addict; 03-10-2008 at 10:19 AM.. |
