It's inevitable. E92 Coupe vs. New Infiniti G Coupe
This year both BMW and Infiniti will introduce their new coupe; E92 Coupe and new G coupe. As Infiniti indicated in this year's Detroit auto show, the new G coupe will hit US dealers by this summer. It will have well over 300hp (could be over 320hp). Since the current coupe has 298hp, I think over 320hp is quite possible. The photos shown are almost close to the real production version, which will be introduced in the April 2006.
It's inevitable that many will compare E92 to G coupe as premier sport coupe. If Infiniti can keep well-equipped G coupe under $35k, I think Infiniti will steal many of E92 potential customers. I really like the overall shape of the new G coupe. It has very classic coupe line with long/low nose and bulging rear wheel opening. Very muscular but elegant at the same time....something many recent BMW design lacks... Can't wait to see both.... |

Wow, that car is looking real good. The headlights are definitely straying from the norm. But in the end, it'll probably be my g/f's car.

Stop making cars that look better than mine!
I love my car, but as soon as these new coupes drop, no one will pay attention to my car. |

As it stands, if I were in the market for a coupe, I'd buy the *current* g35 coupe over the e92. German coupes always seem to look too much like converted sedan platforms/luxo barges to me. Too long, and not wide enough.

To me is doesn’t look a whole lot different from last years model. Infinity’s have a reputation for no holding value. I’ll pass thank you very much.

More images of new G coupe
The wicked headlights will probably not seen on the production version, but all sheetmetal should be identical on the real car.
I think well-equipped new G coupe will be around $35k, which will be at least $10k less than similary equipped E90 335ci coupe. |

The new G35 Sedan is supposed to debut first. That will be at the NY Auto show in April. The G35 Coupe does not come out until late next year sometime.

Us Bimmer freaks got to hand it to the infiniti guys. They help to keep the BMW folks on there feet and give us the best value (albiet at a price). After owning 5 BMWs I actually own an Infiniti that I like. Not quite the German pedigree but again I got more value for my $$.
