Ft Lauderdale Auto Show

Anyone know about the Ft Lauderdale Int'l Auto Show scheduled for the end of March? I'm going to be in South Florida during this time and was wondering if this show is worth going to. Who knows, maybe there will be an M3 on the floor. Any advice or comments would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Most probably the M3 will be shown there, as it is already released and at least 5 area dealers should want to sell this sucker quick... this show is mostly a dealer-focused event more than an autoshow, IMO.

I've been to the Ft Laud show a couple of times. I would recommend checking it out if it's convenient, but I wouldn't go to great lengths to get there. It's relatively small, without too many concept cars or interactive displays like you find at the major shows. It's mostly local dealers bringing samples of their inventory. (The fall show in Miami is by far the more significant show in South Florida.)

That being said, I'm definitely planning to go in hopes of spotting an M3. Since they're arriving at dealers, I figure there's a good chance one will be there. Whether it will be unlocked is another matter.

So I went to Ft Laud auto show last night to beat the weekend crowd, and lo and behold, BMW WAS ABSENT! Audi and VW were also no-shows. Sucks because I really wanted to do some side-by-side comparison between 335i, M3 coupe, M3 sedan, and S5.

Maybe they're focusing on New York since it's running in parallel, but I would have thought they'd at least send the local dealer with some inventory.

On the upside, a local exotic dealer had an M6, a Bentley Continental, and an Aston Martin DB9 that were unlocked and molestable, contrary to normal practice. Jaguar had two copies of the new XF accessible up as well (very nice car).

Anywho, just thought I'd let you local guys know in case that affects your plans....

That got me by surprise also, but I found that out printed in the newspaper and not by personally going to the show... I always thought of this show as kind of third class, but decent. But now is full blown shitty...
